Our new bookshelf is so special. It proudly holds the many new books we have added this year, and it has completely changed the way my first graders browse, choose, and care for their reading materials. One of my favorite moments was watching a group of students gather around the shelf during our independent reading time, pointing out books to each other and celebrating how easy it is to find the stories they love.\r\n\r\nThe bookshelf arrived over summer but each month we add more and more books to the shelf! They are so proud of how organized and inviting our collection now feels.\r\n\r\nThanks to your generosity, our classroom library finally has a home that matches the enthusiasm of our young readers. The next step for us is to continue filling the shelves with rich, engaging books that meet the needs and interests of our growing learners. Our finger spacers have become a favorite tool, helping students remember to leave clear spaces between their words. Our no staple staplers have also been a game changer. Students can now attach their pages easily and independently, which builds their confidence and lets them focus on their ideas. And our new industrial stapler has allowed us to create real books, something the students have been dreaming of!\r\n\r\nThe materials arrived this summer, but I have been slowly introducing them. Each time I introduced a new material, the reaction was priceless. The class did a silent cheer with each new tool. Their excitement filled the room and set the tone for our next writing projects.\r\n\r\nMost recently, we finished our nonfiction books. Students researched, drafted, edited, and illustrated. The moment they got to use the automatic stapler to turn their writing into an actual book was pure magic. They lined up eagerly, clutching their finished pages, and walked away beaming as they held their completed books in their hands.\r\n\r\nThanks to you, our class is writing with more confidence, independence, and joy than ever before.
