Your support has made a meaningful difference for my students in our special education program.\r\n\r\nSince receiving the materials, we have been using the snacks and social-emotional learning (SEL) resources daily. The snacks have been especially helpful in supporting focus and regulation, allowing students to stay engaged during lessons. The SEL materials have become an important part of our small group instruction, where we practice skills like identifying emotions, showing empathy, and using respectful language with peers.\r\n\r\nOne moment that stood out was when we introduced the SEL activities during a group lesson. Students were excited and curious as they explored the materials, and many were eager to participate and share their thoughts. I saw students who are often hesitant to engage become more involved and open during discussions. It created a positive and supportive environment where students felt comfortable learning and practicing new skills.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the donation, they were thrilled. The snacks brought immediate excitement, but what was even more impactful was how valued they felt knowing that others cared about their learning and well-being. It truly boosted classroom morale.\r\n\r\nAs we move forward, we will continue to use these resources to build stronger social skills and self-awareness. Our next steps include applying these skills in real-life situations throughout the school day—especially during peer interactions and unstructured times like recess and group work. We are also working toward helping students become more independent in managing their emotions and making positive choices.\r\n\r\nThank you again for your kindness and generosity. Your support is helping create a classroom where students feel supported, engaged, and ready to learn.","fullyFundedDate":1772385827968,"projectUrl":"project/snacks-and-sel-tools/10124589/","projectTitle":"Snacks and SEL Tools","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Williams","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10437746"},{"teacherId":10241570,"projectId":9980825,"letterContent":"Your generous donation of a color printer has been instrumental in creating colorful visuals for some of our most impacted students. As we mentioned in our appeal, our school ran out of ink by October of this school year. Color printing was not an option. Having a color printer that we could use at our discretion to print visuals and communication boards for our nonverbal or minimally verbal special education students whenever needed made all the difference. Your generous donation of a color printer has proven to be an absolute game-changer, transforming our ability to create essential, colorful visuals for some of our most impacted students. As you may recall from our initial appeal, the beginning of this school year presented a significant challenge: our school's general supply of color ink was completely depleted by October. This unfortunate circumstance meant that color printing, a vital tool for our special education program, was simply not an option for months.\r\n\r\nThe introduction of your donated color printer has made all the difference in addressing this critical need. It has granted our special education team the necessary autonomy and immediate access to print visuals and communication boards at our discretion, precisely when they are needed. This immediate access is paramount, particularly for our nonverbal and minimally verbal students. These students rely heavily on clear, visually engaging, and color-coded materials to understand concepts, follow schedules, and, most importantly, communicate their needs and thoughts.\r\n\r\nYour gift has ensured that our most vulnerable learners are not held back by a lack of basic supplies, allowing us to implement best practices consistently and effectively throughout the remainder of the school year. This gave access to our special education preschool students a song menu as well as an interactive song book that allows them to request and engage with various nursery rhymes during circle time. We adapted some of their favorite books to make them interactive and allow for ways to demonstrate their knowledge (even if they aren't yet able to verbally share it). We created countless visuals to help students engage with their environment and increase functional communication. These low-tech augmentative and alternative communication options have helped us grow our vocabulary, expand our utterances and help engage our students more. Thank you again for your generosity. Thanks to your incredibly generous donation, our special education preschool program has undergone a wonderful transformation in how our students communicate and engage with their learning environment. Your support has directly enabled us to procure the materials necessary to create a wide array of vital low-tech communication boards for our students.\r\n\r\nThese resources have opened up new avenues for expression and participation, particularly during essential group activities like circle time. For instance, we were able to develop a specialized song menu and an interactive song book. This crucial tool empowers our students to actively request their favorite nursery rhymes, making them an active participant in circle time rather than a passive observer. This simple ability to choose has significantly boosted engagement and enjoyment.\r\n\r\nFurthermore, we have adapted several of their best-loved storybooks into interactive formats. These adaptations are much more than just modified books; they are opportunities for our students to demonstrate their comprehension and recall. By providing visual and tactile means to interact with the story, students who are not yet able to verbally communicate their knowledge can still effectively share what they understand, building their confidence and connecting them to the curriculum.\r\n\r\nBeyond circle time and literacy, a substantial portion of your donation went toward creating countless functional visuals. These visuals are strategically placed throughout the classroom and other learning environments to help students better understand expectations, transition between activities, and navigate their day. This has been instrumental in increasing their ability to engage with their surroundings and fostering more functional communication across the board.\r\n\r\nThe introduction and consistent use of these low-tech augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) options have had a profound, measurable impact on our students' language development. We are seeing a significant growth in their working vocabulary, a demonstrable expansion in the length and complexity of their utterances (even when using the communication boards), and an overall greater enthusiasm and motivation to engage with peers and staff.\r\n\r\nWe want to express our deepest gratitude once more. Your generosity is not just a donation; it is a catalyst for communication, learning, and self-expression for every child in our special education program. Thank you for helping us give our students a voice and a meaningful way to connect with the world around them.","fullyFundedDate":1768486435570,"projectUrl":"project/everyday-communicator-books/9980621/","projectTitle":"Everyday Communicator Books","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. M","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-6_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10241570"},{"teacherId":10398559,"projectId":9989098,"letterContent":"On behalf of the students in my elementary behavioral support program, I would like to extend my sincere gratitude for your generous donation of supplies for our recent student weaving project.\r\n\r\nBecause of the support from Endeavor Fund, our students had the opportunity to engage in a meaningful, hands-on activity that went far beyond art. Through weaving, students strengthened essential fine motor skills such as bilateral coordination, hand strength, and precision. Just as importantly, the structured, repetitive nature of the activity supported emotional regulation, helping students practice patience, focus, and self-calming strategies. For each session, we began with a \"body check in\" as an opportunity to reflect on our current states of emotional regulation. Students then created plans for their weavings (submitted in the thank you letters) before selecting materials to began their projects. Each session, students got better and better, practicing patience (weaving can be heard!) and increasing their ability to focus. Best yet, at the end of the weeks practice on personal weavings, students taught the teachers how to weave! This gave a great opportunity for them to practice leadership skills. Now, the weaving projects (and materials to make additional weavings) live in the classroom as a accessible tool to continue skills learned. \r\n\r\nPerhaps most impactful was the sense of community that developed throughout the project. Students encouraged one another, shared materials, and took pride in both their individual creations and their collective experience. These moments of connection are especially valuable in a behavioral support setting, where building positive peer relationships is a key goal.\r\n\r\nYour contribution made all of this possible. Thank you for investing in our students' growth, creativity, and well-being. We are truly grateful for your support.","fullyFundedDate":1768486437533,"projectUrl":"project/over-under-over-under-your-way-to-cal/9989098/","projectTitle":"\"Over-Under-Over-Under \" Your Way To Calm Learning!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Elizabeth OT","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10398559_orig.jpg?crop=964,964,x0,y186&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1776963575654","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10398559"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_35544","usesÐǿմ«Ã½":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":503,"numTeachers":34,"percentFrplEligible":87,"percentAsian":3,"percentBlack":3,"percentWhite":53,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":25,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"14.8:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":50.0,"schoolId":35544,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Harry S Truman Elementary School on @Ðǿմ«Ã½:","schoolName":"Harry S Truman Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/washington/vancouver-school-district-37/harry-s-truman-elementary-school/35544"}
