The incentive rewards have been a powerful tool in motivating my kindergarteners as they practice their early reading skills. We use these rewards to celebrate important milestones. For example recognizing letters, blending sounds, or reading their very first book independently. We also use it to motivate our home and school connection! Encouraging families to listen to their students read while at home. One special moment that stood out was when a student who had been struggling to identify letter sounds finally mastered a set and proudly earned a prize. The joy and confidence on their face was unforgettable, and it inspired other students to keep trying and believe in themselves.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the rewards, their excitement was immediate. There were cheers, wide eyes, and so many questions about how they could earn their first prize. More importantly, they began to connect effort with achievement. I've seen students take more risks in their reading, practice more frequently, and encourage one another along the way. The rewards have helped create a positive and supportive classroom culture where growth is celebrated and every big and small success matters!\r\n\r\nMoving forward, we will continue using these incentives alongside our reading instruction as we dive deeper into guided reading groups, sight word recognition, and early comprehension skills. Students are setting personal reading goals and tracking their progress, which is building both independence and confidence.
