If you are a teacher or parent, you know the multiplication struggle, and how important it is for students to become fluent and comfortable with these basic facts. Yes, we have a variety of websites and computer programs to use for practice, but there is something to be said for good old flashcards and games, which is exactly what this project helped implement in my fourth grade classroom. \r\n Students have really been working hard to become fluent with their basic facts. One way the resources from this project were used was by sending home a set of flash cards with each student, along with a note to parents/guardians of how to best utilize these for practice. We also use a set of these cards to play good old fashioned travel, which encourages students to practice even more. The set of boxed games are used during math centers as a fun, technology free way to practice, while still gamified. My favorite tool, however, is the multiplication chart sliders. This has allowed them to see only the multiples of a certain number so they aren't so overwhelmed with a page full of numbers. \r\n Due to the resources provided from this project, I have seen a HUGE increase in multiplication fact fluency and confidence in my students. My students LOVE the elliptical machines! When I first brought them in, they were instantly intrigued and couldn't wait for their turn to use one. I used them strategically for the students that I knew would benefit the most from the movement during instructional times. We take several brain breaks throughout the day, but those don't necessarily help students focus during the times they should be focused on the teacher. With the elliptical machines, students have a way to keep moving in a way that is not disruptive to their peers.\r\n In speaking with my students, they told me they don't like them, they LOVE them! The ellipticals help them stay focused and move when they can't be out of their seats. I noticed an increase in participation of students with ADHD and Autism during instruction, and they were able to keep up better when taking notes and completing other classwork. \r\n So, to all of you who helped make this project possible, I thank you for allowing my students the ability to stay calm and focused, through movement in the classroom!","fullyFundedDate":1742926095788,"projectUrl":"project/work-it-outelliptical-movement-for-fo/9051197/","projectTitle":"Work it Out...Elliptical Movement for Focus and Educational Achievement!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Lackie","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp4545321_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1500045651634","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/4545321"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_39164","usesÐǿմ«Ã½":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":124,"numTeachers":6,"percentFrplEligible":84,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":89,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":3,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"20.7:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_DISTANT"},"inStateSupporters":89.2,"schoolId":39164,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about West Liberty Elementary School on @Ðǿմ«Ã½:","schoolName":"West Liberty Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/west-virginia/ohio-county-school-district/west-liberty-elementary-school/39164"}
