This has impacted my students in multiple ways. First, they have gotten to see first hand how choosing to help others can be impactful. My students were surprised that people they didn't know would choose to help THEM. That was a wonderful way to help them understand the true meaning of generosity, philanthropy, and kindness. \r\n\r\nWith these wonderful new additions to our classroom, it has greatly impacted the day to day flow of first grade energy. Students may choose whether or not they want to use one that day, that subject, etc. Not only has it helped students get their wiggles out, but it also has helped them practice making choices about what's best for them/ their learning. This sentiment also extends to the noise cancelling headphones we have received. Students with and without disabilities have been more comfortable in loud settings, such as an assembly or fire drill. \r\n\r\nBoth my students and myself have felt appreciative each day knowing that there are people willing to support students as they grow. It's hard being a first grader. Wiggle cushions and noise cancelling headphones make it a bit easier.","fullyFundedDate":1764695113554,"projectUrl":"project/helping-the-twists-shouts-one-support/9882315/","projectTitle":"Helping the Twists & Shouts: One Support at a Time","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Whittington","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10345537_orig.png?crop=1088,1088,x226,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1762551992749","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10345537"},{"teacherId":9971622,"projectId":9192193,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for funding my project! My students have enjoyed all of our new books! The Elephant and Piggie books are a hit, even with my older students! The National Geographic leveled reader books have given my striving readers an opportunity to read books of high interest at their reading level. \r\n\r\nI have incorporated the phonics books into my phonics lessons. These books have given my students the oppotunities they need to practice the phonics skill that has been taught in a text. The pictures and text are engaging and fun for my students to read!\r\n\r\nThank you also for the silly putty! My first grade students have enjoyed using the silly putty to make letters and spell their name. The silly putty was a fun way to incorporate letter learning in my small groups. It has also helped with fine motor skills and increase strength in students hands.\r\n\r\nI appreciate all of your support! My current students and future students will benefit from the materials and books you have helped purchase.","fullyFundedDate":1748805099873,"projectUrl":"project/help-our-richmond-rockets-soar/9192193/","projectTitle":"Help our Richmond Rockets Soar!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Braunreiter","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-2_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9971622"},{"teacherId":9939230,"projectId":9155569,"letterContent":"My students were thrilled with the whisper phones. They are so excited to read every day, even students who usually complain about reading time. I even have some kids asking me during free time if they can read with their whisper phones. As a teacher, there is nothing better to hear!! \r\n\r\nThese whisper phones have made a difference in our classroom. The students are becoming more fluent readers because they can hear what they sound like more easily when they are reading out loud to themselves. It is also a lot more peaceful and quiet during reading time, since the students are more engaged in what they are doing. This makes it easier for me to have small group practice while the other kids are reading, helping to close the gap with the kids that need more one on one help. Thank you for this donation. It means a lot to me, especially since I am a teacher who is just starting out, and I don't have a lot of tools of my own. I am thankful that there are community members that care so much about educating our youth! :)","fullyFundedDate":1748368043565,"projectUrl":"project/can-you-hear-the-growth-taking-place/9155569/","projectTitle":"Can You Hear the Growth Taking Place?","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Lodico","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-6_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9939230"},{"teacherId":3726663,"projectId":9159105,"letterContent":"First, thank you so much for your generosity towards my students and my classroom. This gift will provide students with the opportunity to read a variety of high interests texts for years to come. \r\nWith these nonfiction texts students are being exposed to text features, vocabulary, opportunities to build their background knowledge in topics they wouldn't be with other text types. \r\nAdditionally, I have found that students who struggle to jump into reading are finding books that are of their interests like famous athletes or historical events.
