Even though the project won't officially take place until August 2026 your donation has already sparked interest in our new \"Hogwarts\" section of the library.\r\n\r\nYour donation allowed us to go from 2 books to 30 books for students to enjoy in different formats! The large print are a good choice for students with vision issues or Dyslexia, the paperbacks are good for those students who like to have books they can carry easily, the Spanish versions are wonderful for our English Language Learners and there are always those students who love the feel of a hardcover book!\r\n\r\nSince adding the books to the shelves in February, these books have been checked out by 52 students. They are loving seeing these articles and videos about current events. The articles and activities are engaging and interesting to my class. They also love to review the questions together and see if they got the answers correct. \r\n\r\nOne of our favorite parts to do are the Debate It topics. Writing opinion paragraphs is something we do often in 3rd grade. The students love the topics that are in the magazines and have great brainstorming discussions with each other.\r\n\r\nI have noticed that students are practicing using context clues to learn difficult words. The articles are a great resource to help with learning how to paraphrase non-fiction texts. Finally, students are able to practice using text evidence by going back into the articles to find the answers to questions.\r\n\r\nThank you to everyone! We are learning so much from the Scholastic magazines.","fullyFundedDate":1763595661922,"projectUrl":"project/maximize-3rd-grade-learning-with-scholas/9763089/","projectTitle":"Maximize 3rd Grade Learning with Scholastic News","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Talbott","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp3304171_orig.jpg?crop=240,240,x0,y56&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1758840211703","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/dtalbott"},{"teacherId":3304498,"projectId":9493566,"letterContent":"I want to thank you for providing enrichment to all the Second Grade students at my school. I use the Scholastic News for up to date current events and information that the students enjoy learning about. I love the way I can access this material online and present it to the class. There are videos, activities, and reading fluency passages provided in these news magazines. Students can also access activities that I can post to the Google classroom that they can utilize on their own time or during small group time.\r\nScholastic news also provides comprehension questions and games that are very entertaining for this age of students! The students are often found sitting around the smart television reading their individual copies and filling in review pages to assess what they have learned. \r\nThe students are entertained by these interesting and intriguing topical magazines-the layouts and fun facts are engaging. This material is different than the everyday curriculum that is really appropriate for our English Language Learners and a great supplement. Many of my students do not have computers or go to the library, so these magazines are very helpful. Thank you again for this opportunity that without you they could not participate in.","fullyFundedDate":1758837492549,"projectUrl":"project/expanding-horizons-support-classroom-su/9493566/","projectTitle":"Expanding Horizons: Support Classroom Supplemental Materials","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Fox","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp3304498_orig.jpg?crop=1075,1075,x422,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1588702033530","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/3304498"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_60400","usesÐǿմ«Ã½":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":487,"numTeachers":42,"percentFrplEligible":74,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":10,"percentWhite":22,"percentIndigenous":5,"percentLatinx":53,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 6","studentTeacherRatio":"11.6:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":65.3,"schoolId":60400,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Moon Mountain Elementary School on @Ðǿմ«Ã½:","schoolName":"Moon Mountain Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/arizona/washington-elementary-school-district/moon-mountain-elementary-school/60400"}
