With so many standards that we cover in 1st grade, It is helpful to have extra materials to make engaging center activities to help reinforce the standards. Any opportunity to replace a worksheet with a hands on activity is preferred and appreciated by the students. \r\n One of the activities we have been able to create are time centers. Students were able to use cards with times on the hour or half an hour and use their small clocks to practice making the time. Another center we were able to create were pie tins with suffixes -s and -es to practice plural nouns and verbs with the suffixes. The pieces were shaped like pie and had to be velcroed into the correct pie tin with the coordinating suffix. Though these 2 are just examples of the center activities created, the students loved getting to use hands on materials to reinforce their skills, and I have loved finding engaging ways to keep practicing our standards. We have also created games of Go Fish for Fundation's \"Trick Words\" and sorting mats for the \"glued sounds\".
