They were eager to gather around, explore the materials, and engage in hands-on play. Many of them begin scooping, pouring, and touching right away. While others watched and waited patiently for their turn. Their natural curiosity and enthusiasm showed how inviting and engaging sensory play can be. \r\n\r\nWe will incorporate sensory play in lesson plans for math, literacy, science, social-emotional learning, and thematic units. In math, we will use rice, beans, or sand with hidden numbers or shapes. My students can dig them out, sort, or count. When working on literacy, I will hide letters for my students to find and match them. For science, I will fill the sensory table with natural items (leaves, pinecones, shells, etc.) for sorting, comparing, and discussing textures. We will work on social-emotional learning by using water play or calming textures (kinetic sand, soft fabric scraps) to help regulate emotions. The thematic units sensory table will be filled based on themes (e.g., snow for winter, seeds for spring, colored pasta for celebrations).","fullyFundedDate":1744903259209,"projectUrl":"project/promoting-learning-through-sensory-play/9209482/","projectTitle":"Promoting Learning Through Sensory Play!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Melissa","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6265413_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1731995285614","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6265413"},{"teacherId":6265413,"projectId":9019059,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for the generous wagon donation to our classroom.
