Learning materials are so important, but equally important is creating a space where students are willing to relax, feel safe with their learning struggles and be receptive to new ways to try things or to trying things again to build up their successes. The rocking chairs have created such a positive impact. Students rush to them immediately (all grades) and often just spend a few minutes rocking as a way to decompress and get ready to learn. \r\nWe have had the coziest book club moments, the best comprehension discussions and the most fun enjoying the new table and chairs. In addition, the white board in our \"back office\" area has been the perfect space for a small group to work or do testing. \r\nThe spinning chairs are such a great outlet for students that either need to calm, or just reset for learning.
