Because of you, my kindergarten students now have access to engaging, hands-on reading and math resources that are already making a meaningful impact on their learning. We truly appreciate your kindness and belief in our students.\r\n\r\nWe are using the new materials daily during our reading and math centers, small group instruction, and independent work time. Students are working with phonics games, sight word activities, and math manipulatives that allow them to practice essential skills in an interactive and meaningful way. One special moment that stood out was during our literacy centers, when students confidently worked together to build and read sight words—many of them cheering each other on as they succeeded.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the materials, their excitement was immediate and contagious. They were eager to explore the games and manipulatives and couldn't wait to get started. Several students asked, \"Can we use these every day?\" Their enthusiasm showed how motivating hands-on learning can be, especially for young learners who benefit from movement and interaction.\r\n\r\nThanks to your support, the next steps for my students include continuing to build strong foundations in reading and math through targeted small group lessons. These resources allow students to practice at their own pace, close learning gaps, and gain confidence as they master new skills. We will continue to use these materials throughout the year to support growth and reinforce concepts as students progress.\r\n\r\nYour generosity has given my students more than just supplies—you've given them confidence, excitement, and a love for learning. Thank you for making a lasting difference in our classroom. Many of our young learners are still developing early reading, listening, and fine motor skills, and technology helps make these skills more accessible and engaging. Using computers allows students to practice letters, sounds, and numbers through interactive games, while also learning important skills like taking turns, following directions, and problem-solving.\r\n\r\nThe new headphones, computer mice, and the small speaker with microphone have been especially exciting for our students. The headphones help children focus and hear instructions clearly without distractions. The computer mice give students better control as they click, drag, and explore learning programs, helping strengthen their hand-eye coordination. The speaker with microphone has been a big hit! It allows us to play songs, read stories aloud, and let students hear themselves when they share, which builds confidence and excitement.\r\n\r\nSeveral students have especially warmed to this new technology. Some of our quieter or shy students feel more comfortable participating when they can listen through headphones or speak into the microphone. Students who need extra support with language or attention benefit greatly from being able to clearly hear directions and repeat activities at their own pace. We have also seen students who struggle with fine motor skills gain confidence as they practice using the mouse during learning centers.\r\n\r\nWe are incredibly grateful for your generosity. These tools have made a meaningful difference in how our students learn, focus, and participate each day. Thank you for supporting our classroom and helping us create an engaging and inclusive learning environment for our youngest learners.","fullyFundedDate":1760664803267,"projectUrl":"project/tools-for-learning-headphones-mice-an/9725406/","projectTitle":"Tools for Learning: Headphones, Mice, and Literacy Tech so Nice","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Riley","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9631498_orig.jpg?crop=699,699,x413,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1753202137330","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9631498"},{"teacherId":9631498,"projectId":9534694,"letterContent":"We are using the new alphabet materials daily during our literacy block and learning centers. Many immediately began identifying letters they recognized and couldn't wait to start using them, which created a joyful and motivating learning environment. \r\n\r\nMoving forward, students will continue using the alphabet materials to practice letter recognition, beginning sounds, and building simple words during literacy centers and guided reading groups. This just means using things like the whiteboard, the bulletin boards, or even big sheets of paper taped up on the walls. Instead of always looking down at your desk or textbook, we're going to look up and work together! In math, we'll use these spaces to solve big, messy problems step-by-step. Imagine working out a tricky long division problem—having all the steps laid out on the whiteboard helps everyone see exactly where we are and how we got there. It also lets you come up and show your work, or use a sticky note to add your idea right next to the problem. This makes math much more active and collaborative, allowing us to correct mistakes and share different ways of thinking easily.\r\n\r\nVertical surfaces are just as helpful when we're learning to read and understand stories! For reading, we might use a large chart to keep track of the main characters and their traits, or to map out the plot of a novel we're reading together.\r\n\r\nI call these \"anchor charts\" because they help anchor our learning and keep our ideas from floating away! We can create a list of new vocabulary words or reading strategies—like finding the main idea or making a prediction—and leave them up on the wall for you to look at any time you get stuck. When we use the walls, it turns the whole classroom into a giant, colorful, helpful notebook that we build together and can look at every single day!","fullyFundedDate":1756150659554,"projectUrl":"project/vertical-learning/9596647/","projectTitle":"Vertical Learning","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Peterson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-8_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9633374"},{"teacherId":10111196,"projectId":9537817,"letterContent":"I cannot describe the amount of comfort, joy, and emotional security these items have brought my students. Some days they want to cozy up with a cushion next to their peers for partner work, other days they want to have their own workspace on the lap desks, or take up a clipboard and be on the move. I've been able to have a speaker that is loud enough for us to listen to our calming music and follow along with visual brain breaks, both of which are important parts of our every day routines! I purchased two big ticket items to help my students and myself create a Thinking Classroom. These items have quickly become invaluable in our kindergarten classroom. The first item is a classroom set of LCD write on/erase off boards that we call \"Our Magic Boards.\" We use them on an almost daily basis! This allows the kids to show their learning without using just another boring worksheet. We practice our letters, our sounds, our names, our handwriting, our spelling, our numbers, our addition and subtraction, and our drawings. And these boards allow me to see each and every student's thinking in one quick glance. I can see who has it, who needs a little support, and who needs a lot of support in less than 30 seconds---priceless! We have a 15 minute section everyday to use these boards and if something else happens to come up, the students are asking right away, \"What about our Magic Boards?\" These boards really are MAGIC! The second big ticket item purchased with the Donors Choose funding is a set of 5 movable, vertical white boards. The students use these several times a week to work collaboratively to solve math problems. It allows them a safe, easy erasable space to work through their thinking together and once again allows me access to see their learning and thinking without just another worksheet. My students love standing up to share their thinking, solve problems together, and learn from each other in real time. It has truly brought our lessons to life. \r\n\r\nThe growth mindset journals have become a treasured part of our day. Students use them to set goals, celebrate progress, and reflect on challenges. It's amazing to see students who don't normally share out during the day, feel open to sharing when we work through our Growth Mindset journal prompts. \r\n\r\nThe new weighted puppy is already a comforting friend for many students. It has become a gentle and reassuring presence in our calming corner, providing the sensory support some of my students need to self-regulate and refocus.\r\n\r\nAnd the Bluetooth speaker?! It's the heartbeat of our classroom! Whether it's energizing us during movement breaks, creating a peaceful mood during transitions, or filling the room with joy during read-alouds, it helps us build an engaging learning environment every single day. They have truly enjoyed interacting with their learning in a more involved way. When I first brought out one of the material sets (ABC magnet boards), they were so intrigued and excited. They were thrilled that using them was going to become a regular part of our learning routines. Before group time, they would even start checking in with me to make sure we were going to be using one of the resources we got. It was so amazing to see how much motivation and engagement it stirred up in my students. Seeing their love for their own learning grow has been such a powerful thing to behold. \r\n\r\nWe have lots of upcoming plans with the tools we have been given, but I think the one I'm most excited about is giving the students the chance to be the teacher for one another. Through these hands-on learning experiences, many of my students have gained a massive confidence boost in demonstrating what they know and what they can do. They now understand their learning style and can see that it isn't a hinderance at all, but rather a different way to view and comprehend what they learn. Now that they are feeling more confident and excited about their skills, they will be given more opportunities to put on their \"teacher\" hats, work with other students, and share their knowledge through the use of these tools. Many people use technology at home, but in our classroom it serves a very different—and incredibly important—purpose. The wireless keyboard and mouse have allowed me to move freely around the room while teaching, helping me work with students in small groups, monitor their progress, and support them more closely without being tied to my desk. This flexibility ensures I can respond to student needs instantly, whether they're struggling with a math concept, navigating a digital assignment, or needing quick redirection. The high-quality headphones have been especially transformative for my students, particularly my English Language Learners, who can now fully engage in online reading supports, language tools, and individualized learning programs without distractions.\r\n\r\nWhat has been most exciting for my students is how the new headphones help them feel more confident and capable. Several of my quieter learners have especially warmed to them; with fewer background noises and more focused listening, they've become more engaged during audiobooks, language practice, and digital comprehension activities. These students are now participating more, completing tasks with greater independence, and showing pride in their progress—all because they can finally hear clearly and concentrate fully.\r\n\r\nYour generosity has made our classroom a more accessible, supportive, and effective learning space.
