Their eyes just LIT UP!!! Many of them had never worked with such nice supplies before and they couldn't believe it was all for them - and they didn't have to pay for it.\r\n\r\nWe had students who wanted to start new projects now that they had so many choices of yarns. It got them searching up new patterns and wanting to try new things. A couple of them worked together to find something they could both make. So your gift prompted curiosity, the desire to learn something new, risk-taking and collaboration with our students. Talk about a great teaching tool! And a great SEL activity to boot.\r\n\r\nWe can't thank you enough!","fullyFundedDate":1767218262289,"projectUrl":"project/put-down-the-phones-and-pick-up-a-craft/9756718/","projectTitle":"Put Down the Phones and Pick Up a Craft!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Denhardt","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-9_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9279657"},{"teacherId":9567826,"projectId":9857236,"letterContent":"Your generous donation has made a real difference in my classroom by helping create a more engaging and supportive environment for my students. The addition of new books has given them more opportunities to connect with what they are reading and grow as readers in meaningful ways.\r\n\r\nThrough these books, my students have been working on understanding characterization and conflict at a deeper level. They are learning how authors develop characters over time, how to analyze motivations, and how characters respond to challenges. They are also exploring different types of conflict and thinking about how those conflicts shape the story and connect to larger themes.\r\n\r\nThe whiteboard has also become an essential part of our daily learning. It allows me to clearly model examples, break down complex ideas, and post lesson objectives so students always know what they are working toward. Being able to visually map out character development and types of conflict has helped students better organize their thinking and stay engaged during instruction.\r\n\r\nIn addition, the cleaning supplies and classroom borders have helped create a brighter, more welcoming space. A clean, organized, and visually inviting classroom has made a noticeable difference in student focus and pride in their environment. Students feel more comfortable, more motivated, and more ready to learn each day.\r\n\r\nAs they read, students are building confidence in sharing their ideas, using evidence to support their thinking, and participating in discussions. They are beginning to make stronger connections between the texts and their own experiences, which has made reading feel more relevant and engaging for them.\r\n\r\nThe overall feel of the classroom has shifted as well. It has become a more collaborative and student-centered space where students are more willing to take risks and support one another. They are more engaged, more thoughtful, and more invested in their learning.\r\n\r\nThank you for supporting my students and helping create a classroom where they can grow as readers, writers, and thinkers.","fullyFundedDate":1770256306487,"projectUrl":"project/readers-who-feel-seen-stories-that-insp/9857236/","projectTitle":"Readers Who Feel Seen, Stories That Inspire","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Mora-Martinez","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9567826"},{"teacherId":9988216,"projectId":9848382,"letterContent":"I am writing to express my gratitude for your generous support of our phonetic awareness project for newcomer high school students at Delcastle Technical High school. Your contribution has made a meaningful impact on our students' literacy development which has positively impacted their overall confidence in learning English.\r\n\r\nThrough your funding, our students have been able to engage in phonemic games that challenge them to apply complex and often difficult phonetic rules in a hands-on, meaningful way. These activities have not only strengthened their understanding of sounds and patterns in language but have also made learning more engaging.\r\n\r\nAdditionally, the use of root word families has been especially effective in helping students recognize patterns in language, making it easier for them to decode and pronounce new words. This approach has supported their ability to build vocabulary more efficiently and with greater confidence. Furthermore, the inclusion of pictures is extremely beneficial since it supports memory and helps students make meaningful connections between words and their meanings. Some students have even asked to take them home with them so that they can practice!\r\n\r\nWhen the students were first introduced to the materials, they were very excited since we were just doing drills in the class. They were eager to explore the many options available for practicing phonetic rules. Since we had many options for practicing now, it was easier to differentiate and allow students to even practice rules they had not learn and see that there are patterns. The tactile nature of the sets has made learning more interactive, allowing students to physically manipulate materials as they build their skills. \r\n\r\nThank you once again for your commitment to supporting effective literacy instruction for English Learners at the high school level. Your generosity is helping our students build a strong foundation for academic success and lifelong learning.","fullyFundedDate":1770065341320,"projectUrl":"project/building-bridges-for-multilingual-learne/9848382/","projectTitle":"Building Bridges for Multilingual Learners' Literacy Level","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Beaver","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-9_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9988216"},{"teacherId":10315649,"projectId":9837482,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for the new books. My students enjoyed reading novels about characters who looked like them and were dealing with realistic issues. It was exciting to hear students come into class already talking about the books they were reading. They viewed reading these books as fun rather than punishment, All American Boys was especially popular because too often the books in school have female main characters and our boys feel left out.\r\n These books engaged students in meaningful conversations as they shared their book with others. The collaboration that happened allowed students to connect the plot of the novels with today's society. Students were able to grapple with difficult topics in a safe space. So many students commented that these were the best books they had read in an ELA class. It is great to know that our students will read, write, discuss and share if they feel their voices will be heard.","fullyFundedDate":1760882253814,"projectUrl":"project/adding-reading-choice-to-the-classroom/9837482/","projectTitle":"Adding Reading Choice to the Classroom","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Maslanka","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-5_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10315649"},{"teacherId":10315852,"projectId":9838154,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for supporting our high school literacy project! The rolling whiteboard and markers have quickly become some of our most-used tools. The biology-themed board games have also been a huge hit. Students are collaborating, communicating, and strengthening their social and emotional literacy while engaging with science content. We are using the new resources daily to meet students' sensory needs, support food insecurity, and encourage artistic expression. Emotional awareness posters help students identify and communicate how they're feeling, snacks and tissues ensure basic needs are met so learning can stay focused (especially during this killer flu season!), and art supplies like markers give students a creative outlet to process what they read and discuss, such as creating alternate book covers for 'To Kill a Mockingbird.' One especially meaningful moment was when students used the Prince Escalus costume to act out the opening scene of Romeo and Juliet. Watching them step into the role, speak Shakespeare's language with confidence, and collaborate with their peers showed just how powerful hands-on learning can be.\r\n\r\nWhen the boxes arrived, the excitement was immediate and contagious. Students gathered around as we opened each one, reacting with genuine joy and curiosity at every new item. The costumes sparked laughter and imagination, the snacks brought relief and gratitude, and the sensory and emotional-support materials helped students feel seen and cared for. It was clear that these resources sent a strong message: this classroom is a safe, supportive place where their needs and interests matter.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, these materials will be essential as I begin teaching a new honors class and work to help students feel comfortable and secure enough to take academic risks. Our next steps include expanding literacy skills through dramatic readings, performance-based activities, and creative projects that make complex texts more accessible and engaging. Because of you, my students are not only learning—they are building confidence, empathy, and a genuine love for reading and self-expression. Thank you for giving them that opportunity.","fullyFundedDate":1760844506251,"projectUrl":"project/building-secure-learners-on-the-path-to/9837091/","projectTitle":"Building Secure Learners on the Path to Literacy in ELA","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Jensen","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9348257_orig.jpg?crop=560,560,x0,y93&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1724331399675","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9348257"},{"teacherId":9988216,"projectId":9219275,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous donation. Without your support, our cultural community project would not have been possible. The goal of the project was to celebrate culture through creativity and connection. With the new supplies, students were able to design activities from various countries that represented important aspects of Hispanic art and traditions. The materials helped to bring to life a cherished tradition from that country and gave everyone a hands-on way to celebrate their heritage and identity. Our students created over 20 arts and crafts activities! Some of the activities included: hieroglyphic rock painting from the Tainos, making pinch pots and decorating it with markers, Panamenian molas, textile coloring, day of the dead skull decorations, yarn art, painting sun clays, decorating book marks and more! \r\n\r\nThe high school took the lead by planning and creating art activities inspired by various cultures. When the students saw the supplies, they used that as inspiration to base their craft activity about. The students worked together to research the meaning and history behind each craft, ensuring that the activities reflected artistic ability and cultural pride. This preparation not only deepened their understanding of Hispanic Traditions but also built their leadership and collaboration skills. \r\n\r\nThe most exciting part of the project was when the high school students shared the creations with the children from the community. The students stayed late after school to set up the tables and then came in early the next day to continue to set up. During the community event, the students guided children at each of their table, teaching them about the culture that inspired the craft. The children were extremely engaged and eager to go from table to table taking their time making their handmade art pieces. \r\n\r\nThanks to this event, it was extremely rewarding to see an exchange of knowledge and culture between the high school students and children from the community. The cultural activities showed how art can bring people together and strengthen community pride.","fullyFundedDate":1753903010685,"projectUrl":"project/bringing-culture-to-life/9219275/","projectTitle":"Bringing Culture to Life","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Beaver","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-9_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9988216"},{"teacherId":9915255,"projectId":9095379,"letterContent":"We want to take a moment to express our heartfelt gratitude for your generous sponsorship.
