This year, we were able to get it set up and test out the pump. The kids were really excited when we got it out and turned it on! Over the summer, we will be filling it with sand, rocks, plants, and fish funded through a separate grant. We will use this in all of our classes as the kids learn how to sample water, identify species, and use microscopes. We will be looking at the plants and animals when we review food webs and teach about respiration and photosynthesis.\r\n\r\nNext year, we will have a new Environmental Field Studies class at DeLaura, and this stream simulator will play an integral part in that class as well! This will be a resource that will last years, and will help to get thousands of students excited about learning.
