Your donation of hurdles has made an immediate and meaningful impact on our athletic program and on the confidence of our young athletes. Because of your generosity, our students now have access to equipment that allows them to train properly, safely, and with the same sense of pride and professionalism seen at higher levels of competition.\r\n\r\nThe first day the hurdles arrived was truly a special moment. Our students gathered around with excitement and curiosity as we unpacked them. Many of them had only seen hurdles on television or during professional track meets, but had never had the opportunity to train with them themselves. Their excitement quickly turned into determination as they began practicing technique, stride patterns, and rhythm. What started as curiosity quickly became motivation, and students immediately began encouraging one another as they worked to clear their first hurdle successfully.\r\n\r\nIn our training sessions, the hurdles are now being used not only to develop track and field skills but also to teach important life lessons such as discipline, perseverance, and goal setting. One of our current practice activities involves students working in small groups where they analyze their form, count strides between hurdles, and give constructive feedback to one another. This collaborative approach has helped students build confidence while also strengthening teamwork and communication skills.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, our next step is to continue building our hurdle training program so that students can improve their speed, coordination, and competitive readiness for upcoming meets. We are also integrating goal-setting exercises where students track their personal progress over time—celebrating improvements in technique, speed, and confidence. For many of our students, these hurdles represent more than athletic equipment; they symbolize overcoming challenges both on and off the track.\r\n\r\nYour generosity has helped create opportunities that our students will remember for years to come. Because of you, our young athletes are learning that with support, determination, and the right resources, they truly can overcome any obstacle placed before them.","fullyFundedDate":1765318941027,"projectUrl":"project/empowering-young-athletes-beyond-the-tr/9748206/","projectTitle":"“Empowering Young Athletes Beyond the Track”","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Taylor","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp5419993_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1528126073089","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mdanieltaylor"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_31315","usesǿմý":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":765,"numTeachers":55,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":66,"percentWhite":0,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":28,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"6 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"13.9:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":31.8,"schoolId":31315,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Sequoyah Middle School on @ǿմý:","schoolName":"Sequoyah Middle School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/georgia/clayton-county-public-schools/sequoyah-middle-school/31315"}
