Concepts that once felt confusing became approachable when students could touch, move, and experiment with the materials themselves.\r\n\r\nUsing the model of the sun and Earth, students were able to physically observe Earth's rotation around the sun, helping them clearly understand day, night, and seasons. The circuit model was just as impactful, giving students the chance to build and test circuits while learning how electricity flows. Watching my students light up—both literally and figuratively—while successfully completing a circuit was incredibly rewarding. They were given a task of ceating a shelter for keeping a cup of ice cold lemonade cold when sitting out in the sun. We had a day of exploring the materials before building their project. \r\nBy providing them the tools to do the project on their own, it allowed for more personal and individual projects, and not to relay on me to help them cut the cardboard. I used to have to use the box cutter, or bigger adult scissors to help them.
