My students come to school with a natural determination to learn, but they often lack the physical tools to match that drive. More than half of my students come from low-income households, and providing them with high-quality materials like the Lakeshore Cardboard Blocks and STEM Building Discs sends a clear message that their education is a priority.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials arrived, the students were most excited about the Pigeon and Food Group book sets. We have been using The Bad Seed and The Sour Grape to discuss social-emotional skills. A specific moment of impact occurred when we used the individual dry erase boards and whiteboard tape to create \"emotion graphs.\" Students drew how they felt and used the tape to categorize their reactions. Having enough boards for every student meant no one had to wait their turn, allowing our lesson to move smoothly and keeping everyone engaged.\r\n\r\nWe are currently using the Magnetic World cubes and Flower Garden building sets to practice fine motor skills and spatial reasoning. Our next step is a \"Design-a-House\" project where students will use the 115-piece play food set and building blocks to simulate a community. These resources have turned our classroom into a functional workshop where students can finally test their ideas with real, tangible objects. Your support has bridged a significant resource gap for these children.","fullyFundedDate":1763583483308,"projectUrl":"project/kindergarten-dreams/9861782/","projectTitle":"Kindergarten Dreams","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Bill","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10334373_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1761614952168","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10334373"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_26507","usesÐǿմ«Ã½":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":256,"numTeachers":17,"percentFrplEligible":60,"percentAsian":2,"percentBlack":32,"percentWhite":40,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":12,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"15.1:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_MIDSIZE"},"inStateSupporters":77.8,"schoolId":26507,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Fairview Elementary School on @Ðǿմ«Ã½:","schoolName":"Fairview Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/illinois/mclean-co-unit-district-5/fairview-elementary-school/26507"}
