When I first envisioned the project to bring Tonieboxes into our reading area, my goal was simple: I wanted to make reading \"magical\" again. In a time dominated by screens, I wanted my students to rediscover the joy of auditory storytelling and the power of their own imaginations. Because of your incredible generosity, that vision has officially become a beautiful reality.\r\n\r\nThe moment the boxes arrived in our classroom, the atmosphere shifted instantly. You could feel the electric hum of curiosity. As I began to unpack the equipment, the students' eyes went wide with recognition and wonder. It was a joy to watch the social dynamics shift as several students, who are lucky enough to have Tonies at home, stepped up as \"experts.\" They beamed with pride as they explained to their peers how the little characters sit atop the box to unlock whole new worlds.\r\n\r\nThe anticipation was electric. My students were so anxious to have the new area set up that they volunteered to help organize the space, ensuring every Tonie had a \"home.\" One student perfectly captured the collective mood, exclaiming, \"I love that there are stories for me to listen to, and then they have songs that I can sing, too!\" That blend of narrative and music has turned our reading nook into the most popular destination in the room.\r\n\r\nSince integrating the Tonie boxes into our daily center time, the reading area has been at maximum capacity every single day. We are seeing a remarkable trend where students are choosing to listen to the same stories over and over again. While it might seem repetitive to an adult, this repetition is actually a vital part of early literacy development.\r\n\r\nPerhaps the most touching development is how this project has inspired my students to become creators themselves. They have started a \"Favorite Books\" box, hand-selecting titles they want me to record onto Creative-Tonies. They aren't just passive consumers of stories anymore; they are active participants who want to hear their teacher's voice narrating the books they love most. This level of engagement is exactly what I hoped for when I first began this journey.\r\n\r\nIn a classroom, resources often come and go, but the gift of a love for reading is permanent. By funding this project, you have provided more than just hardware; you have provided a sanctuary where students feel safe to explore, imagine, and grow. You have bridged the gap between \"learning to read\" and \"loving to read.\" Your support has reminded my students that there are people in the world who care deeply about their education and their happiness.\r\n\r\nThank you for believing in the importance of early literacy and for investing in the futures of these wonderful children. Your kindness has truly made our classroom a magical place to be, and we will think of your kindness every time we place a new character on a box and a story begins.","fullyFundedDate":1774963801792,"projectUrl":"project/the-magic-of-read-alouds-bringing-our-l/10031761/","projectTitle":"The Magic of Read-Alouds: Bringing Our Library to Life","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Yoder","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp3206838_orig.jpg?crop=978,978,x898,y389&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1692640235278","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/3206838"},{"teacherId":8547486,"projectId":9992688,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your donation to help fund this project! I am writing to express my heartfelt gratitude for your incredibly generous donation of doodle boards to our classroom. Your thoughtfulness and support mean more than you know, and I wanted to take a moment to share just how excited the children are about this wonderful gift.\r\n\r\nFrom the very first moment I introduced the doodle boards, the room filled with smiles, curiosity, and enthusiasm. The kids absolutely love them! There is something so engaging about having their very own special surface to write, draw, and practice on. What may seem like a simple tool has quickly become one of the most treasured learning materials in our classroom.\r\n\r\nThe doodle boards have already made a meaningful impact on our daily lessons. During writing time, the students are more eager than ever to participate. They are excited to practice forming their letters, writing sentences, and even experimenting with creative storytelling. Because the boards are reusable, the children feel comfortable taking risks with their writing. They know they can erase and try again, which builds both confidence and resilience.\r\n\r\nSpelling practice has become especially fun. Instead of groans when it's time to review sight words or phonics patterns, I now hear cheers. The students love writing their words, holding up their boards to share, and quickly correcting mistakes without frustration. The immediate feedback and ability to erase and rewrite encourage them to keep improving. It has truly transformed what could feel repetitive into something interactive and joyful.\r\n\r\nBeyond academics, the doodle boards also foster collaboration. The students often turn to one another to compare answers, help with spelling, or share a drawing. These small moments build community and strengthen friendships. It is beautiful to see how one generous donation can positively influence both learning and classroom culture.\r\n\r\nAs a teacher, I am always looking for ways to make learning engaging, hands-on, and meaningful. Your generous donation has provided exactly that. Not only have you supplied us with a practical resource, but you have also contributed to an environment where students feel motivated and excited about writing and spelling practice.\r\n\r\nPlease know how deeply appreciated your generosity is. Your support directly benefits our students and enhances their educational experience in tangible ways each day. The smiles on their faces and the pride they show in their work are a constant reminder of the difference you have made.\r\n\r\nOn behalf of our entire class, thank you again for your kindness, generosity, and commitment to supporting young learners.","fullyFundedDate":1771021716300,"projectUrl":"project/lets-write/9872168/","projectTitle":"Let’s Write","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Pyck","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7153472_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1710030955287","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7153472"},{"teacherId":5144688,"projectId":9440467,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your donation to our Keeping Busy in Kinder project. I love how these hands-on activities are helping students grow their foundational reading knowledge, while also working on skills of teamwork, sharing and problem solving with their peers. Students are also loving the recess games we've added, such as Kanoodle and Stack the Fuzzies! These have been great fun during the snowy, cold months when we've been stuck inside. \r\n\r\nFor our next project, we'd love to collect materials to create class t-shirts. Your generosity has truly transformed our classroom's construction zone. Since the materials arrived, we have seen students visit the block area for the first time this school year, build more elaborate structures, and collaborate with one another to bring their ideas to life. The excitement in the room was infectious as the students helped unbox the new resources and find the perfect spots for them in our block center.\r\n\r\nI wanted to share a wonderful example of how these materials are already fueling learning. One student recently decided to build a nest for an eagle. He discovered that by placing two half-circles together, he could create a whole circle for the base. He then used arch blocks to build up the sides and hollow blocks to construct an entire forest for the eagle to live in, even using triangle blocks to represent evergreen trees. This student spent sixty minutes focused on his creation, sharing his process with friends and using complex vocabulary that simply would not have emerged without these specific resources.\r\n\r\nI am so excited to see the many conversations and discoveries that will happen now that we have these tools in our classroom.
