At a staff pitch-in breakfast earlier this month, my principal talked about the acrobatics of a very chubby squirrel and how much fun he was to watch! Pre-K students sit in one of the long windows with each other and talk about what they see! Your donation of supplies to feed the birds has also expanded our interest well beyond feeding the birds. The students have started noticing bird's nests, which evolved into other types of nests found in trees, and now our classroom is full of bird's nests and hornet's nests. The children are having an absolute blast playing together and discovering the joy of sand using different tools and objects in the sand table. I used to have a small bin full of sand that only had space for one child to play comfortably, but the new sand and water table is so large, that four children can use it at the same time. It's been so much fun to hear the conversations and dramatic play that now happens. I put a few small scoops and bowls inside and they are pretending to cook, and other types of imaginative play.
