With your help, I was able to optimize the space I have, transforming my classroom from first to fifth. The impacts of the materials are far-reaching, and we are grateful every day for your help in achieving our goals!\r\n\r\nMany of the materials went towards creating a grade-level appropriate safe space- a place where \"big kids\" can process their big feelings. The sensory tent is used multiple times a day, and students describe it as feeling like a \"warm hug\" when they're able to curl up inside and decompress from an overstimulating situation. Fidgets such as the Needos and liquid oil bubblers are also frequently used both in the safe spot and at student desks. Students also enjoy having a comfortable chair to sit in as they work through their feelings.\r\n\r\nAdditionally, organizational items such as the two-cube shelves, power strips, and shower curtain have become staples of our classroom. The shelves and power strips allowed additional space for cubbies, as well as created an \"iPad charging station.\" With so many students in our room, organization is vital to making things run smoothly. The shower curtain is used to partition off our \"backpack room\" so student belongings are sturdy.\r\n\r\nThe final thank you goes from me- thank you for helping me bring a vision to life! At the beginning of the year, students created motivational posters for themselves. They chose a single word and a quote to focus on, and then they wrote a mission statement for themselves. Your donation allowed me to display all 26 of these posters on our classroom wall, where students can see them all throughout the day.
