These tools have opened up a whole new world of hands-on learning, allowing us to connect our reading to real-life experiences in meaningful and memorable ways.\r\n\r\nWe've been using our new cooking supplies to bring stories and themes from our classroom literature to life. When we read If You Give a Mouse a Cookie, students helped bake cookies to explore cause and effect. During our story unit, we read The Little Red Hen Makes A Pizza and then re-enacted the story to all help make little pizzas for our snack. We have also used the supplies and the oven to make Smores for our \"Camping\" marble party.\r\n\r\nOur next step is to continue integrating cooking into future stories and themes—whether it's preparing snacks from around the world during our mapping unit or baking treats that connect to cultural celebrations we read about. Because of your generosity, students are now able to move, collaborate, and engage in lessons in new and exciting ways.\r\n\r\nOne of our favorite projects so far learning about the letters with the resources that were generously donated. After reading Chicka Chicka Boom Boom - Many students work with the letters on the tree while naming the letters and retelling the story. During our quiet time, students are always grabbing a magnetic letter board as well as the trace and write boards to practice saying and making their letters. It is wonderful to see students choose how they can actively learn the concepts. \r\n\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, the students were so excited as we unpacked the materials and discussed the many ways that we could use this during our learning and choice time. They continue to be grateful as they use these materials in our classroom. \r\n\r\nYour contribution gave you a small window into our classroom, and we want you to know that your gift continues to grow. Our next project is to use the modeling clay to build objects that help us learn how to blend words.
