When the magic carpet arrived, their excitement was immediate—eyes wide, smiles everywhere, and questions bubbling over about when they could start reading on it. That first day, students eagerly gathered on the carpet for a read-aloud, sitting closer than ever, fully engaged and ready to learn. What began as a simple space quickly became a place where stories come alive.\r\n\r\nWe now use the magic carpet daily for shared reading, partner reading, and small-group lessons. Students take turns sitting on the carpet to read aloud, discuss characters, and retell stories using text evidence and illustrations. One of my favorite moments was watching a normally quiet student confidently volunteer to read while sitting on the carpet, supported by peers who listened attentively and cheered them on.
