They even have the puppets buy and eat pretend pizza! They are socializing and counting out money. I find great joy in seeing the students playing and imagining all of these things after working hard every day to be great learners.\r\n\r\nThe ability to print in color and label items in the classroom is very useful to me. Students are always looking at the schedule each morning to see what we are doing that day. They are beginning to read and practice making CVC (consonant, vowel, consonant) words using the newly printed and laminated word family house and cookie jar beginning sound sorting game!\r\n\r\nIt takes many tools to engage the students. Each student is unique and learns differently. These books have been so popular and are flying off the shelf. \r\n One of new skills in elementary library is to understand how to use non-fiction books. We learn how to use the table of contents, locate topics in the index, find pages numbers, read captions and labels, and identify bold words and learn what they mean in the glossary. Some are to help students blend sounds to create words, some help them with grammar such as learning nouns, adjectives, and verbs, Some teach students how to place words in ABC order. I have also created manipulatives for math to aide in students knowledge of addition and subtraction facts along with learning place value and telling time. My students were so excited when they saw how many new reading activities we had received and wanted to get started right away. They are easily engaged in the work and are having fun while doing so. \r\nThey were also excited for the new markers that we received because our charts have new eye-catching colors.
