As you can see from the BEFORE photo, there was very little variety in seating options for the students. The desks and chairs provided in the classroom were intended to be a \"one size fits all\" for my students. However, my students (and the students in every classroom everywhere) are so diverse; from their learning styles to their personalities to their physical size to their comfort zones. The flexible seating options that you have provided them has made such a difference for my students! As you can see in the photos, 3 bistro tables in the back of the classroom allow each student sitting there a little more personal space, away from their peers sitting in the desks. The students can choose to sit on the stools or stand at these tables. Also in the pictures are the 2 most popular seating options for use with the classroom desks: the balance ball chair and wobble stools. Sitting still and quiet can be so difficult for so many children. These 2 options allow for subtle movement that satisfies the need to wiggle without distracting classmates.\r\nAs I mentioned earlier, there are 26 students and a total of 13 different seating options, which means the students have to take turns using them. We've established a system where groups of students get either a first or second choice each day. There are strict expectations in place for using the different seating options, and the students police themselves. Those not following the rules forfeit the flexible seating for that day. \r\nThank you so much for caring about these students and their success. We are all so grateful for your generosity.","fullyFundedDate":1758766578872,"projectUrl":"project/seating-choices-that-foster-autonomy-and/9751204/","projectTitle":"Seating Choices That Foster Autonomy and Success in the Classroom","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Thompson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9750807"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_78426","usesÐǿմ«Ã½":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":351,"numTeachers":25,"percentFrplEligible":53,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":86,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":5,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"14.0:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"TOWN_REMOTE"},"inStateSupporters":62.3,"schoolId":78426,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Lilian Peterson Elementary School on @Ðǿմ«Ã½:","schoolName":"Lilian Peterson Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/montana/kalispell-public-school-district-5/lilian-peterson-elementary-school/78426"}
