Many of them used the squishy toys while talking about things that were stressing them out. Unfortunately, my school serves many students in the foster care program. These items really assist them when they are feeling strong emotions regarding their situations. The students have really appreciated having the extra items to use when discussing life and how to navigate thru it.\r\nDuring the last few weeks of school, calming strategies are very needed. Some students hate the breaks due to food insecurity, abuse, homelessness, etc. The weighted items are always utilized during these times. Students like to hold onto them while they discuss their stress and ways to cope. \r\nAll of the items donated were so amazing. Now, with our new replacement parts and USB audio adapters, every student can seamlessly access instructional videos and guided tutorials to support their independent learning without missing a beat. The students were incredibly excited to finally have reliable equipment—especially the audio adapters, which instantly solved their frustration of not being able to hear their interactive lessons. One student in particular, who previously struggled to stay focused when their workstation experienced technical issues, has completely turned things around now that they have a consistent, working setup to practice their digital skills. Furthermore, the heavy-duty shop vacuum allows us to easily maintain our shared workspace. A clean, well-organized lab protects our technology and fosters a positive, healthy learning environment for all 200 students who use this room. While our core curriculum provides a strong foundation, it does not always offer the hands-on extensions or creative outputs that many students need to fully grasp concepts. With the donated supplies, my students have been able to create posters, models, and interactive projects that demonstrate their understanding in a more authentic way. These opportunities allow students to process information, collaborate with peers, and communicate their thinking visually and verbally. It has transformed our classroom from one that simply follows a curriculum to one that expands on it, giving students the chance to truly engage with the content.\r\n\r\nWhen my students first saw the materials, their reactions were immediate and genuine. There was excitement, gratitude, and, for many, a sense of relief. Access to basic supplies like pencils may seem small, but it removes a daily barrier that many of my students face. Instead of starting class feeling unprepared or worried about not having what they need, students were able to walk in ready to learn. Yes, our reading materials are important but we need some fun and reading a Scope or News 5/6 magazine gives us a break from the Literature book and helps them do something they can do and can feel good about. They learn from short stories and we don't do it often but when I can see they need a break, I take out the weeks magazine and we look at it together. Just today a student asked if they could have some of the magazines, of course you can. Anything that helps get them engaged works for us. Have students in Sixth and Seventh grade that are in resource classes in Middle School. We received the reading materials, posters, pencils, and writing strips for our English Language and Reading Classes. We unpacked them and used them right away.\r\nThe students loved getting new pencils and being able to share them with their friends. They enjoyed the strips for vocabulary words and meanings as when they take tests or asked what words mean, they can refer to them to help with spelling, word meaning, and if it's the correct word to use in their paragraphs. \r\nThey enjoy using all the colors to write with and work on each story in the book and be able to contribute on the large paper to refer back to the stories. If they are writing about Malala, maybe they need to remember who the other characters are and their names. This helps them remember the content and able to use it for their essays. Anchor charts are fun to make and great to use. \r\nThere were many more supplies like cleaning and now that we have a sweeper, they are more eager to help keep the classroom clean than using a broom. Other teachers have borrowed it as well. \r\nWe also have the Smarties, Kinetic Sand, and other incentives that help them get their work completed.
