We have utilized the resources sent and still enjoy them to this day! The students are excited to come to school, see what's new in their book cubbies, and share what they have created. \r\n\r\nAfter the book cubbies were built, the students were excited to put their names on them and decorate their cubbies. The students began bringing their favorite books from home and checking out more library books to place within their book cubbies. We also engaged in a book study on famous inventors to support the reading unit. I checked out books from my school library on famous inventors and placed them in the students' book cubbies. They were so excited to see which inventor they received. Throughout February and until early March, they received time at the end of the day to read about their inventors. The cubbies helped to keep the books organized and for smooth transitions, so students had more time to read. The students are so excited to receive new books at the start of the new module after spring break!\r\n\r\nIncorporating the STEM activities (magnet cubes, Play-Doh, magnetic shapes) has brought out a lot of creativity within my students. For morning work, the students go to their centers with the STEM activities, and they really enjoy building objects with their groups and individually. They have become more interested in STEM and have written opinion papers on why our school should have a STEM program!\r\n\r\nBecause of the donations, I was able to introduce my students to new experiences and to encourage the love of reading.","fullyFundedDate":1768697329431,"projectUrl":"project/reading-cubbies-for-encouraging-reading/10031099/","projectTitle":"Reading Cubbies for Encouraging Reading","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Bass","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-8_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10407734"},{"teacherId":3944962,"projectId":9993378,"letterContent":"Because of your generosity, my students have been fully immersed in our watercolor landscape unit, and the transformation has been incredible to witness. Instead of working with limited or worn materials, they are now using high-quality watercolor paint, quality paper, fresh new Sharpie markers, and awesome white acrylic paint markers to apply the finishing touches.\r\n\r\nOne specific moment that stood out was during our first landscape painting session. As students practiced creating horizon lines and blending skies with the wet on wet painting technique, I heard comments like, \"This looks like a real sunset!\" and \"I didn't know I could make colors mix like this!\" The excitement in the room was immediate. They instantly took more pride and care in their work.\r\n\r\nStudents are learning how to identity the parts of a landscape and creating the illusion of depth and space by developing foreground, middle ground, and background details. I also had them try their hand at hatching with marker which is a unique way to create shadows with parallell lines. What appeared to be a challenging project initially, ended up being very achievable with the right tools and a little step-by-step guidance.\r\n\r\nYour support has not just provided supplies — it has provided confidence and joyful engagement.
