They used magnetic letters, magnetic words, and an adhesive whiteboard to explore spelling patterns, build sentences, and experiment with word order during small group activities such as silly sentence building and word family challenges. Students also used classroom tablets and the interactive whiteboard to digitally arrange words, record their sentences, and practice phonics and spelling skills. This blend of hands-on and technology-based learning strengthened pattern recognition, sequencing, and problem-solving skills while keeping students highly engaged.\r\n\r\nThe whiteboard and digital tools provided students with a space to test ideas, revise their work, and collaborate with classmates, much like scientists and engineers refine solutions. These materials were especially supportive for English learners and students who needed additional reinforcement, helping them gain confidence as readers and writers. Students were eager to showcase their illustrated writing and enjoyed using play money to bid on classmates work. This experience helped them practice saving and making thoughtful choices while also celebrating the creativity of their peers. KL strengthened her ability to include clear details in her writing by using illustrations to match and expand the events in her stories. DG improved his vocabulary and sentence structure by explaining his drawings and adding more descriptive language to his work.
