The play food was very popular during our nutrition unit, especially with my SLC students who love hands on activities. \r\n\r\nI am getting ready to teach about puberty to my 3rd - 5th graders and I can't wait to be able to pass around the uterus stuffy. My students were ecstatic to see them when they came into the classroom. It is such a novel experience to sit in them compared to sitting on the hard, traditional blue chairs that we all probably remember from our school days. \r\n\r\nThe chairs were a great behavior incentive in the spring. Groups of students earned points for listening and following directions and then the successful teams were guaranteed time in the chairs. Many students came in during the first week of school this week wanting to know if \"we were going to use the green chairs this year.\" I plan to use them for all students and make sure everyone gets a chance to sit in them this fall. \r\n\r\nThanks for supporting my students, me, and my school. There was a huge reaction from kids in all grade levels. It is just in the last couple of weeks that the constant questions have stopped regarding the skeleton. What an amazing teaching tool! We have had conversations about how a model skeleton stays together (metal and plastic) and how we use skin, ligaments, muscles, and tendons to keep our form. \r\n\r\nOur skeleton stays up front with me while I am teaching and I am using it even more than I anticipated! It is so nice to have a reference to show where the heart is located as I explain the circulatory system to fifth graders.
