Your gift has already made a meaningful, hands‑on difference for our youngest learners. Garden Club volunteers built and prepared raised garden beds specifically for our kindergarten and first grade classes. These beds are now safe, accessible learning spaces where students can observe growth, explore nature, and practice responsibility. Older students in the Garden Club are excited to collaborate with and mentor the early childhood classes. \r\nAs the garden has started to be built and come together, our kindergarten and first grade students are excited to begin our new unit. Our students have eagerly begun planning for planting in the spring. They've been starting seeds in grow‑light kits, watching sprouts emerge, and celebrating those first leaves — moments that spark curiosity and joy in learning. They are excited to observe seeds germinating. \r\nNext steps in our classroom project: Over the coming weeks, we will deepen learning through these planned activities. Lessons on plant needs: students will investigate and record how sunlight, water, soil, and space affect seedling growth. Pollinator studies: children will learn about bees, butterflies, and other pollinators — why they matter and how to attract them to our garden. Plant care routines: students will take turns watering, measuring growth, and creating simple plant care logs. This will also help with fostering responsibility and care. Comparative plant units: classes will compare the needs of different plants (e.g., herbs vs. flowers vs. vegetables) and design small experiments to test care strategies.","fullyFundedDate":1762803298740,"projectUrl":"project/create-a-early-childhood-garden-to-grow/9695056/","projectTitle":"Create a Early Childhood Garden to Grow Learning and Community!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Waters","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7780796_orig.jpg?crop=946,946,x844,y792&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1628704508106","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7780796"},{"teacherId":3369559,"projectId":9107204,"letterContent":"Your help in funding of the clay project brought a lot of clay into our classroom. The 5th graders were thrilled to dive into their annual tradition of creating clay monsters, a project that every Red Cedar art student looks forward to as a milestone in their artistic journey. Thanks to the contributions from donors, the students had the chance to and bring their imaginative ideas to life. The support not only provided the materials but also gave the students the opportunity to experience the joy of creating something uniquely theirs.\r\nBecause of the generous contributions, there was enough clay left over to expand beyond what has been possible in past years. This means students will be able to take on more projects throughout the school year, exploring new techniques and ideas. In addition, the 5th graders now have the chance to participate in a pottery wheel club after school, where they can gain hands-on experience with the wheel and experiment with a new form of artmaking. This opportunity has the potential to spark a lifelong interest in ceramics for some students, making the impact of the donors' support even more meaningful and lasting.","fullyFundedDate":1742905337352,"projectUrl":"project/creative-with-clay/9107204/","projectTitle":"Creative With Clay!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Visscher","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp3369559_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1490361934103","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/3369559"},{"teacherId":2168246,"projectId":9158425,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for funding this project. It has already made a world of difference in my phonics block this year. The materials purchased with the grant have transformed our hands-on phonics instruction by providing engaging, tactile resources that bring learning to life. My students are actively using these tools during daily phonics lessons to explore letter sounds, blend words, and build reading confidence through interactive activities. When they first saw the new materials, their excitement and curiosity were immediate—they were eager to explore and use the resources, which sparked enthusiasm and increased participation in the lessons.\r\n\r\nCurrently, we are focusing on mastering consonant-vowel-consonant (CVC) word patterns using the new manipulatives.
