Students created day of the dead keychains to wrap up our unit. \r\nStudents used the shrinkable paper to draw their own design which had to be an element of Day of the Dead such as a sugar skull or a butterfly. Students enjoyed doing something different in class and that was something for them to keep. Students got to observe me, the teacher, shrink their art and they were pretty amazed at the process. Students are still wearing their key chains on their I.D. lanyards, backpacks and wallets. Student recently took an exam on Day of the Dead culture and grades were great. This unit was interesting to them which I hope encourages them to learn the language even more since they know more about the language. I hope to have more opportunities to do fun things that tie into the language so that students feel special in class and appreciate the language and culture. \r\nThank you for making this possible. The successful funding of our projects, \"Mi Piñata ArtÃstica, Quién es, Mi creación de Picasso, and Yo soy Joan Miro,\" has transformed our classroom learning environment in ways that exceed every expectation.\r\nThe resources we received—specifically, the high-quality markers, tissue paper, and watercolor painting supplies—have closed a critical gap in our resources. Prior to this donation, my high school students often had to worry about providing their own supplies or limiting their creative projects. The moment they saw the high-quality materials, they could not believe it was for them! They were incredibly excited to have these supplies readily available to use whenever needed, allowing them to create freely without constraint.\r\nThe tangible difference is now visible every day.\r\nFor example, the new high-quality markers are now being used daily to encourage detailed and colorful artistic expression. I watched one student, who previously struggled with passive participation, take ownership of the task of creating a detailed journal entry about her favorite painter. The confidence and excitement radiating from this student as they successfully completed their artwork was a powerful reminder of how critical access to quality materials is for sparking passion and building self-efficacy.\r\nThe impact extends far beyond immediate academic gains:\r\n•\tIncreased Engagement: The materials have turned abstract concepts into concrete, collaborative learning experiences, making attendance and participation soar.\r\n•\tEquity and Access: Your donation ensures that every student, regardless of their background, has access to the same high-quality, up-to-date tools needed to thrive in a modern classroom.\r\n•\tSkill Development: Students are actively developing critical 21st-century skills, including problem-solving, collaboration, and critical thinking, all thanks to the opportunities these resources provide.\r\nLooking ahead, these resources are instrumental in our next steps as we embrace upcoming cultural celebrations and holidays. We are immediately putting the markers and tissue paper to use for a series of seasonal art projects. We will be designing creative pieces for the Christmas season, followed by projects centered on Semana Santa and Cinco de Mayo. These lessons allow students to apply their new materials to hands-on cultural studies, celebrating diversity and building strong artistic skills. This series of projects perfectly demonstrates the long-term, diverse impact of your investment.\r\nThank you for believing in the potential of my students and for investing in their future. Your commitment to education is a gift that will keep giving, fostering a love for learning that will last long after they leave my classroom.\r\nWe are truly honored to be a part of the Donors Choose community.","fullyFundedDate":1746843138019,"projectUrl":"project/engaging-cultural-projects-for-the-spani/9132803/","projectTitle":"Engaging Cultural Projects for the Spanish Classroom","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Conover","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-1_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9930221"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_11090","usesÐǿմ«Ã½":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":1596,"numTeachers":131,"percentFrplEligible":91,"percentAsian":2,"percentBlack":16,"percentWhite":34,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":42,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"12.2:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_MIDSIZE"},"inStateSupporters":73.9,"schoolId":11090,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Cooper High School on @Ðǿմ«Ã½:","schoolName":"Cooper High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/texas/abilene-independent-school-district/cooper-high-school/11090"}
