One of our favorite projects has been exploring light and X-rays using a light board. Students investigated how light travels, how shadows form, and examined animal and human X-rays to compare bones and structures. This sparked thoughtful conversations as students noticed similarities and differences between living creatures and asked curious, science-rich questions about what's happening beneath the surface.\r\n\r\nWhen students first saw the materials, their reactions said it all—wide eyes, excited whispers, and plenty of \"Whoa!\" moments. Many students had never seen X-rays before, and the light board instantly became a favorite tool in the classroom. The excitement was contagious, and students were eager to touch, explore, and explain what they were seeing to their classmates, turning learning into a shared experience.\r\n\r\nNext, students are designing their own science experiments using everyday materials like coffee filters, muffin cups, ziplock bags, and a microwave. They are investigating color mixing, heat, absorption, and filtration, then preparing to lead these experiments for other classrooms on campus.
