They loved talk about the characters and their motivations for doing what they did and feeling what they felt. Auggie is a great character to relate to and empathize with. He was a new 5th grader entering a world he was unfamiliar with, as were several of my students. Many have come from different countries with entirely different schooling experiences. \r\n\r\nIt was wonderful to have the book in Spanish, because ALL of my students were able to access the text and follow along as I read aloud. This costuming would normally require an expensive purchase from Mexico or much more expensive and task-heavy item that would have required a custom-order within the United States. This donation makes it possible for the craftiness of the instructor to provide a very professional and authentic quechquemetl. \r\n \r\nThe dancers will be presenting at a fall festival in October and then a district-wide fine arts event during the month of November. They will be presenting dances featuring this attire. The students that had no school supplies started off with pencils and dry erase markers, day of one of school. It really did make a difference for my students to have the right learning tools and supplies day one. I work in a title 1 school so most of my students don't come with much day one of school. \r\n\r\nStudents were more confident and ready to work because they had the supplies they needed.
