We have recieved ukuleles, and our 4th/5th grade class has begun using them. The 3rd/4th grade class is expected to begin their ukulele instruction after winter break. \r\n\r\nSo far, students have learned the different parts of the ukulele and practiced strumming patterns on open strings. They have learned two chords, C and F. Students are benefitting from peer teaching, play-along videos, and direct instruction. I am providing additional playing time during recess when I am able, and several students are choosing to come to the music room during this time to practice ukulele.\r\n \r\nMost excitingly, we were able to get funding through The Creative Advantage to host a residency with The Rhapsody Project this Spring! Students will use their ukulele knowledge to work on songwriting, 12-bar blues, and more with teaching artists from The Rhapsody Project. \r\n\r\nAll of this is possible because of your generosity.
