One memorable moment was when a group of students worked together to complete their first successful pass-and-shoot sequence. Students who are often hesitant to participate were fully engaged, encouraging each other and celebrating their teamwork. The equipment has allowed us to safely introduce hockey skills that many of our students would never have the chance to experience otherwise.\r\n\r\nThe students were beyond excited when they saw the hockey equipment. Many had never held a hockey stick before and were eager to learn how the sport works. They asked lots of questions, practiced handling the sticks during warm-ups, and were genuinely proud that their school had real hockey gear. The novelty and quality of the equipment sparked curiosity and boosted participation across all grade levels.\r\n\r\nWhat are the next steps for your students on a current classroom lesson or project?\r\nNext, students will move into small-sided hockey games where they will practice teamwork, communication, and game strategy. We will also connect lessons to goal setting and sportsmanship, helping students reflect on how effort and collaboration lead to success. These experiences are especially meaningful for our Title I students, as they expand access to diverse sports and build confidence, skills, and a love for physical activity that can last a lifetime.","fullyFundedDate":1769607963423,"projectUrl":"project/replace-hockey-equipment/10013074/","projectTitle":"Replace Hockey Equipment","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Corsi","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8959921_orig.jpg?crop=1080,1080,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1676070625919","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8959921"},{"teacherId":8959921,"projectId":10013571,"letterContent":"We are using the new jump ropes, volleyballs, and replacement equipment daily in PE to build fundamental movement skills, teamwork, and confidence. One standout moment was during our jump rope unit, when several students who had previously struggled with coordination were able to practice with ropes that fit their size and skill level. Seeing students celebrate their first successful jumps and cheer on their classmates was incredibly meaningful and reminded me how the right equipment can open the door to success for every child.\r\n\r\nThe students were thrilled when the new equipment arrived. Many of them commented on how bright and new everything looked, and they were eager to try it out right away. For some students, this was the first time they had access to high-quality PE equipment, and their excitement and curiosity were contagious. They felt proud that their school and PE program were being supported, and it sparked renewed enthusiasm for participating in class.\r\n\r\nNext, we are beginning a volleyball and cooperative games unit, where students will use the new volleyballs to practice passing, serving, and teamwork. We will focus on communication, sportsmanship, and setting personal fitness goals. These lessons help students build not only physical skills but also confidence, resilience, and positive peer relationships skills that extend far beyond the gym.
