I am happy to report that the students no longer have to search for their desired skin colors to use when coloring; there are now plenty of crayons and colored pencils to choose from. In addition, there is no longer student conflict over a limited amount of skin colors to choose from in our classroom when coloring or illustrating people. \r\n\r\nIt has been so nice not to have to mix paints to create the variety of skin colors as well. These new multicultural paints have been a real time saver. As you can see from the photos the students have truly enjoyed all the new multicultural art supplies this project has brought into our classroom and art projects. As you can see from the photos the students are truly enjoying the SumBlox Building Blocks. \r\n\r\nThe students started out just exploring the tower building capabilities and really enjoyed seeing how tall they could make a tower. From there we worked on stacking them in number order. Lastly, (for now anyway) I had the students use the challenge cards to recreate the number structure, the students really liked the challenge. For the couple students that wanted an extra challenge they used just the silhouette side of the challenge card to recreate the number structure, it wasn't as easy as they thought it would be but definitely enjoyed the endeavor just the same. After the new year I can't wait to utilize the SumBlox for reinforcing addition skills. \r\n\r\nOnce again a huge \"Thank You\" to everyone that helped bring this project to fruition, students will be able to enjoy and learn for years to come.","fullyFundedDate":1744032894830,"projectUrl":"project/counting-our-bleer-i-mean-our-blox/9038261/","projectTitle":"Counting Our Ble...er, I Mean Our Blox!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Miller","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp3041266_orig.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1622222278034","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/3041266"},{"teacherId":8548580,"projectId":9664535,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous support of our classroom! Because of your kindness, my students and I are already making the most of our new resources. We've been using them daily when students have completed their work and they've completely transformed the way my students engage with their learning.\r\n\r\nWhen my students first saw the materials, the room filled with pure joy. Many of them rushed over, eager to touch, explore, and get started right away.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, we're continuing our current project on engineering. With these resources, students will be able to design models, practice new communications skills at their own pace. I can't wait to see how much deeper their learning will grow because of the opportunities you've made possible.\r\n\r\nOn behalf of my students and myself, thank you again for your generosity and belief in our classroom. It has been so wonderful to be able to read a book the students fully enjoy and then be able to provide a copy for several students to look at and re-tell what they've heard. To see them pretend to be the teacher as they re-tell the story to a few friends at the meeting area is a priceless sight to see as an educator.\r\n\r\nWe also utilized these books during reading station time, the students have unlimited access to the books to choose one at a time and go find a quiet spot in the room to read (When I say \"read\" I mean within the kindergarten ability. This entails re-telling the story in their own words, reading the pictures to make up their own story, or for the very advanced kindergartener actually reading the text.) I think the most impactful part of this project is having the numerous copies of the highly coveted Halloween books so several children can enjoy them at the same time. \r\n\r\nWithout all of you here at Donors Choose these projects would not be possible. Thank you all again so very much.","fullyFundedDate":1728090474966,"projectUrl":"project/hocus-pocus-everybody-focus-on-halloween/8847593/","projectTitle":"Hocus Pocus Everybody Focus on Halloween Reading","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Miller","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp3041266_orig.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1622222278034","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/3041266"},{"teacherId":3041266,"projectId":8533180,"letterContent":"Many people may not know this, but we are once again putting an importance on playtime in the kindergarten classroom. Studies show children need play at this age to develop their social skills and this project targeted not just playtime but playtime with a purpose. All the materials purchased went directly to playthings that fostered active purposeful play. As you can see from the photos the students are finding not only enjoyment, but also, they are truly engaged in the activities while they play. \r\n\r\nI think one of the most important aspects of purposeful play is that the students think they are just playing and having a good time BUT...they are also learning! In addition, the learning taking place is unbeknownst to many of them. \r\n\r\nAll this to say, all of you here at Donors Choose make a huge impact and it would not be possible without you.","fullyFundedDate":1726701758334,"projectUrl":"project/room-123s-purposeful-play-paradise/8533180/","projectTitle":"Room 123's Purposeful Play Paradise","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Miller","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp3041266_orig.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1622222278034","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/3041266"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_67305","usesÐǿմ«Ã½":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":377,"numTeachers":39,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":2,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":3,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":93,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 2","studentTeacherRatio":"9.7:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":78.7,"schoolId":67305,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Whittier Elementary School on @Ðǿմ«Ã½:","schoolName":"Whittier Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/washington/pasco-school-district-1/whittier-elementary-school/67305"}
