The students have loved trying new art mediums and creating lasting art. In addition to the pictures shown the students have been able to learn and practice math and letters through hands on experiences and show their growth through play. The pictures attached are just a small snapshot of some of the art that the students created with your help. They were thrilled to be able to create a 2026 calendar as a surprise Christmas present to their families that we wrapped in the classroom for the students to be able to place under their trees this holiday season. The students loved experimenting with the oil pastels, watercolor, crayons, and all the other art mediums. \r\n\r\nIn addition the student have loved being able to practice writing their letter sounds with their new whiteboards. The students have been learning a new letter sound each week and so far we have learned and almost mastered 9 letter sounds. We have been learning to write the letters we have learned, our names, and other prewriting strokes in a stressfree way of being able to erase our whiteboards if we make a mistake. \r\n\r\nThank you for your support and we appreciate your help in helping these students learn through hands on experiences in the classroom and beyond. I can't wait to continue their exploration through the rest of the school year and include our field trips into experiences for them as well.","fullyFundedDate":1753987418495,"projectUrl":"project/learning-through-experience/9478647/","projectTitle":"Learning Through Experience","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Murray","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9115969_orig.jpg?crop=271,271,x27,y22&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1760481820066","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9115969"},{"teacherId":5599835,"projectId":9768449,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your support in getting a 3D printer for our class and school. We have had a blast finding things to print, designing our own objects, and even creating and printing our very own Christmas ornaments! We are finding more and more creative ways to use our new printer, and the kids are endlessly fascinated by it every day. \r\n\r\nOur goal with the 3D printer was to bring our learning to life. So far, we have had a blast figuring out how to use the printer along with design programs such as Tinkercad and Makerlab to create artifacts that go along with our curriculum. The students have designed name tags to go on their backpacks, Christmas ornaments as gifts to their families, and alien monsters to share with a friend! I have also printed all of the kids a knight who will hold their pencil as an end-of-unit surprise as we finish up learning about the Middle Ages. In addition to those items, we have also printed fidget spinners to practice our multiplication and division facts, Toy Tigers (our school mascot) for the student store, and pumpkins for Halloween. \r\n\r\nThis printer, which was so generously donated in part by all of you has enhanced these kiddos' education in ways that they never would have had the opportunity to experience before. It has opened their eyes to the possibility of new ways to realize their learning, hone their skills, and it has encouraged them to invent solutions to challenges in their lives. We have now done multiple art projects using our new markers. And we plan on creating a beautiful watercolor piece for Mother's Day on our new watercolor paper. Using the sharpies is a huge hit.
