Learning English while also studying history and geography is tough, but your support gave us tools that make it easier and more engaging.\r\nHow we're using the materials:\r\nEvery week, students pull out the National Geographic World Atlases to explore the globe. They use them to teach classmates about their home countries and learn about others. With more than ten countries represented in our class, these atlas sessions have become a highlight—students share where they're from, point out landmarks, and ask questions about places they've never seen before.\r\nWhat's changed in the classroom:\r\nThe maps and posters have turned empty walls into learning spaces. Now, when we talk about ancient civilizations or U.S. history, students can look up and see timelines and visuals that make the lessons click. Reading and discussion feel more connected because students have something concrete to reference.\r\nStudent reactions:\r\nOne student from Honduras was excited to show her hometown on the map. Another from Vietnam used the atlas to explain rivers and mountains in his country. These moments help students feel proud of where they come from and more confident sharing in English.\r\nYour donation didn't just buy materials—it gave my students a way to connect with each other and the world. Thank you for making that possible.","fullyFundedDate":1758221610588,"projectUrl":"project/maps-posters-possibilities-welcoming/9674666/","projectTitle":"Maps, Posters & Possibilities: Welcoming Newcomers to History","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Sadler","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8147410_orig.png?crop=551,551,x50,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1756836164743","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8147410"},{"teacherId":5426144,"projectId":9636230,"letterContent":"Having a variety of fidget and sensory tools help with transitions, academics and self-regulation. The air fryer supports quicker cooking time and less cleaning for when I have limited staff and most families have air fryers at home. We make mommy dogs for Halloween which I forgot to take a picture off this has been a busy start of this school year. With your supports we make time for functional cooking task to include reading, writing and math skills into the lessons.\r\n\r\nHands on learning for my students are the most impactful and beneficial. I am excited to use the air fryer and cooking tools for years to come to support my low incidence students with disabilities to be excited to cook at school and support more confidence and independence at home. We look forward to making air fry Oreos and cookies soon. I have seen more interest and participation with the new tools. The headphones arrived so quickly, and the students opened them immediately to use them on the day that they arrived! It is rare to see excitement on older students faces, but when it does happen, you know it is genuine and that is what I got to witness with these headphones.\r\n\r\nWith almost 30 students in the class, having that many keyboards playing various songs at different times can be distracting and a detriment to the learning process for keeping a steady beat, practicing rhythms, and being able to actively listen to yourself play. Within the first 10 minutes of these new headphones, there was silence throughout the classroom and students were able to truly focus on their own music for the first time this semester. Students were happy to focus on their own sound and continue learning without distractions.\r\n\r\nI am looking forward to seeing how much more growth our students will make with these new headphones, and it is from the help of our community that I get to witness and be a part of this process for the students. Students who used to sit quietly through lessons while hungry now had easy access to granola bars, crackers, and other quick snacks. It was amazing to see how much more focused and engaged they became once that basic need was met.\r\n\r\nI'll never forget the first day we set up the snack station. My students' faces lit up when they realized these snacks were for them—no questions, no judgment. One student said, \"Now I don't have to wait until dinner to eat.\" That moment showed me how something so simple can make a huge difference in their confidence and ability to learn.\r\n\r\nThanks to your generosity, the snack bank became part of our daily routine. Students grab a snack before tests, during independent work, or when they just need a little boost to keep going. Our next step is to keep this resource available so every student in our class feels supported and ready to succeed. Your kindness made this possible, and we are so grateful for the impact you've had on our classroom community.","fullyFundedDate":1725844908833,"projectUrl":"project/help-stock-capes-snack-bank/8738017/","projectTitle":"Help Stock Capes' Snack Bank","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Capes","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9441984_orig.jpg?crop=2316,2316,x0,y386&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1725468899184","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9441984"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_36367","usesÐǿմ«Ã½":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":1422,"numTeachers":69,"percentFrplEligible":78,"percentAsian":17,"percentBlack":14,"percentWhite":16,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":31,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"20.6:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_MIDSIZE"},"inStateSupporters":77.2,"schoolId":36367,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Mount Tahoma High School on @Ðǿմ«Ã½:","schoolName":"Mount Tahoma High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/washington/tacoma-public-schools/mt-tahoma-high-school/36367"}
