Most of our instruction is done on the carpet in both whole group reading and whole group math. The students also work on the carpet during centers. \r\nAs a 1st grade teacher my students needed a comfortable spot on the floor during learning time, and this carpet provided that for them. They love stretching out on the carpet when they are reading with a partner or working in a center. I use these with the students during our morning meeting. The activities give them time to think and share with a partner. We also use them to act out social situations and practice how we handle social situations. Also the stories help students learn to understand their emotions, and how to self regulate when they are feeling stressed. \r\nMy students love the bucket filler activity, and took the time to understand how to fill someone's bucket, they even wanted to fill my bucket through positive notes.
