Now, with a full class set, every single student can participate actively and simultaneously outside on the blacktop. The results have been monumental over the past trimester! Having their own equipment allowed for rapid, personalized practice, resulting in a dramatic increase in physical activity. Students were highly engaged, often coming in from class breathing hard and sweaty, showing how much more they were moving compared to previous units.\r\n\r\nI have seen a significant improvement in student skills, confidence, and teamwork. Students successfully learned how to play an organized game on their own, mastering the fundamental techniques of bumping, setting, and spiking, and effectively serving both underhand and overhand. They also learned essential non-physical skills, such as keeping score, properly calling plays in and out, and even learned to solve differences on the court independently by playing \"ro sham bo\" (rock, paper, scissors).\r\n\r\nYour investment didn't just provide equipment; it provided the opportunity for high activity, skill mastery, and critical lessons in sportsmanship and conflict resolution. These balls will be a durable resource, benefiting countless students for years to come. The new pencil sharpener has already been put to good use and I am so relieved to have one in working order again. You would be surprised how many pencils we go through on a daily basis. We were able to get some new books about the Donner Party as well because one of the puzzles was out of stock. Unfortunately, many of my students do not eat breakfast before school and maintaining their focus to learn on an empty stomach is quite a challenge. With a granola bar or some goldfish crackers, students can attend to their lessons.
