What a cool phrase to be able to say. It has become to the new norm in our soccer program that the girls hit the weight room with confidence and self assurance. The weight room isn't the schools but instead the back of my classroom that has been transformed through the donations. \r\n\r\n The girls hit the racks and grab 15 to 25 lb weights and go through a structured workout. Now that we are almost 8 weeks into strength training, the difference is seen on the soccer field and with their confidence. My students are using the much needed new station to complete their work ion smaller more effective groups. They enjoy showing their work and discovering solutions to all sorts of math problems together. \r\n\r\nThe whiteboards have been most beneficial in teaching students how to factor and solve difficult quadratic equations. The \"guess and check\" method requires some trial and error as they decide on which binomial factors will yield the correct solutions. The whiteboard allows them to try the different factor pairs without worrying about mistakes since they are able to erase and try again. \r\n\r\nThe vertical whiteboards have allowed students to work through problems and not be so afraid of making mistakes. Many of my students want more than one of the stickers so it keeps them motivated to continue to compete and solve math problems during our game days.
