Students are also learning new vocabulary and building their reading stamina by reading longer chapter books independently and with partners.\r\n\r\nReading in our classroom happens in many fun ways each day. Students enjoy listening during read-aloud time, reading quietly on their own, and discussing the story with partners and small groups. We stop often to think about what the main character is feeling and why she makes certain choices. Students love turning and talking with a friend to share predictions and reactions to the story.\r\n\r\nAs you can tell from their notes, my students are excited to pick up a book and read. The book cover is beautiful and invites students to see what adventures await Karana. These books have inspired students to read more at home and talk about stories with their families.
