I'm a Speech-Language Pathologist at an elementary school in Colorado. As everywhere, we are strapped for extra resources to purchase items that help to complement our practice. Often, I find myself using my own money to buy items that help to keep my students engaged and my practice fresh.\r\n\r\nYou have provided me with two items. One is a simple story system that helps students work on story retell (including the narrative arc) and vocabulary building. This sytem is terrific because there's lots of stories to work with and they follow the progress of the year (e.g., summer, spring, fall). Within each \"season\" there are multiple stories to teach and learn. My students love the song we sing at the beginning. They love the predictable, familiar illustrations, and they seem to love retelling the stories. Most importantly, I can see them learning about the rise and fall of stories and about new vocabulary. The second item you provided me is a game called Blurt. My students *love* playing this game. During the game, students are given a clue and then they blurt out the answer. It's a game that works on rapid naming and vocabulary building. It's particularly helpful for my older students.\r\n\r\nAgain, thank you so much for these wonderful resources. They have enriched my practice and helped me to stay excited about my work!","fullyFundedDate":1756158199237,"projectUrl":"project/learners-need-language/9605225/","projectTitle":"Learners Need Language!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. McNeil","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp3851800_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1473106081026","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/3851800"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_50062","usesÐǿմ«Ã½":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":436,"numTeachers":28,"percentFrplEligible":31,"percentAsian":4,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":65,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":21,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"15.6:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_SMALL"},"inStateSupporters":74.4,"schoolId":50062,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Barnard D Ryan Elementary School on @Ðǿմ«Ã½:","schoolName":"Barnard D Ryan Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/colorado/boulder-valley-sch-dist-re-2/barnard-d-ryan-elementary-school/50062"}
