My students were thrilled to hear about the resources they were provided. With your donation, I was able to purchase a variety of supplies that are crucial to student engagement in the classroom. Almost daily, students use personal whiteboards for various classroom activities, especially during math instruction. Over the years, the personal whiteboards became scratched, chipped, and damaged. Dry erase markers also dry up fairly quickly and we go through a few boxes of class sets each year. I was able to purchase brand new dry erase boards for the students. These new personal whiteboards increase student engagement and get them excited about solving math problems. \r\n\r\nIn addition to new whiteboards, I was also able to provide my students with a variety of flexible seating options. I have a wide range of students in my class with all different backgrounds and abilities. Providing them with flexible seating options allows students to be comfortable and focus so they can be successful engagine in learning activities. I purchased a few sets of stools to support more students at small group tables as well as a few comfy floor seats for independent work reading on the carpet. The students were thrilled with these new options! When the books I requested arrived, my students were eager to start reading them. They are so excited with the books purchased that they constantly ask me if they can take the books home, which I have allowed them to do. Not only that but I have also implemented a 30 minute block at the end of the day for students to just read a book since they're eager to finish their book! \r\n\r\nTo help them develop a passion of reading, students have been able to use the rockers and pillows to make reading much more engaging. In my class, I already had wobbly stools, and a yoga ball, so adding these new seating choices gives my students a wide variety of seating options to choose from when they're expected to read. \r\n\r\nAs for the other supplies purchased, students use this supplies to help them during our on-grade level curriculum. Most of my students are Multilingual learners and Special Education students so reading grade level texts can be difficult for them. To ease this struggle, I allow my students to take notes on sticky notes and/or whiteboards. \r\n\r\nOverall, with this project funded, it has not only helped ease my students' struggle in reading grade level texts, but also enhanced their interest in reading for fun!","fullyFundedDate":1760538145372,"projectUrl":"project/turning-pages-sparking-minds/9826673/","projectTitle":"Turning Pages, Sparking Minds","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Ortiz","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10311324_orig.jpg?crop=2400,2400,x0,y304&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1760399656426","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10311324"},{"teacherId":3343159,"projectId":9821646,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generosity in donating to my literacy project. Your donation allowed me to purchase an iPad that can be used during whole-group, small-group and individualized instruction. In addition, your donation allowed me to purchase two class sets of chapter books that will help to foster my students' love of reading. \r\n\r\nWith the iPad, I am able to annotate lesson plans for future use, as well as make notes that I can refer to in the future when I teach the lesson again. The iPad also allows me to give out Class Dojo points more readily, as I am able to have the app open on my iPad while teaching so I can provide positive feedback to students who are demonstrating appropriate behaviors. During small-group and individualized instruction, I am able to show videos and/or pictures related to what students are learning about to help them make greater connections to the content. Students are able to use the iPad to follow along using digital recordings of books we are reading in class. In addition, I can use the iPad to write down information that students need to copy down, but may have difficulty with copying from the board or from a longer distance. \r\n\r\nThe class sets of chapter books that were also part of my project have allowed my students to continue their love of reading. Each student is able to have their own copy of the book to follow along with during whole-class readings or to read on their own during individual reading sessions. In addition, the chapter books are at their instructional reading level, which allows them to feel confident in their reading ability and provide additional practice with their reading comprehension. The students also love that the books, \"Ramona Quimby, Age 8\" and \"Clementine\" are about characters their own age, who do things that they can relate to as 8 years and 3rd graders, which engages them even further and keeps them actively reading. \r\n\r\nMy students and I are very grateful that our donor has helped to provide the funds needed to foster their love of learning and reading.
