We are currently using the organizing table, storage bins, and rolling cart to manage a classroom that finally feels like a professional engineering lab. A standout moment occurred last week during our \"Light Up the Room\" challenge. Students used the mobile whiteboard and magnets to map out their logic gates before diving into the hardware. It was incredible to watch a group of students successfully use the alligator clips, battery holder packs, and AAA batteries to power a circuit they had designed. With the new computer mice, they were able to pivot to their screens with the precision needed to refine their 3D models, which are now being brought to life with our vibrant new 3D printer filament.\r\n\r\nThe day the materials arrived felt like a celebration of their potential. My students were absolutely buzzing with excitement—especially when they saw that the project cared for the \"whole child.\" While one group was mesmerized by the 3D filament spooling into a physical object, another was thrilled to see the soccer and volleyballs. One student perfectly captured the mood, saying, \"It feels like someone really wants us to be real inventors!\" The new equipment hasn't just provided tools; it has fostered a deep sense of responsibility. They take immense pride in \"resetting\" the storage bins and rolling cart at the end of the day, proving that when you treat students like professionals, they rise to the occasion.\r\n\r\nYour generosity has bridged the gap between imagination and reality, allowing my students to see that engineering is not just a subject in a book, but a collaborative, physical, and deeply creative way to interact with the world.","fullyFundedDate":1759424469959,"projectUrl":"project/organize-to-create-a-place-for-every-id/9774889/","projectTitle":"Organize to Create: A Place for Every Idea","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Anderson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-6_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7662450"},{"teacherId":7662450,"projectId":7888766,"letterContent":"Your support has turned our classroom into a laboratory of hands-on innovation. By providing the essential sewing cabinets, needles, and fabric you have empowered my students to see themselves as both artists and engineers. This project has proven that STEM isn't just about screens—it's about the tangible application of math and science in the world around us.\r\n\r\nHow We Are Using These Resources\r\nMy students are currently working on a \"Smart Design\" challenge. In a recent classroom moment, I watched a group of students use the sewing cabinets to measure and cut fabric for a prototype, while another student sat at the monitor coding a sequence of lights that would eventually be integrated into the textile.\r\n\r\n\r\nThe \"First Look\" Reaction\r\nWhen the boxes first arrived, the classroom felt like a holiday morning! The reaction was a mix of awe and immediate curiosity. One student, seeing the sewing cabinets and fabric, said, \"I didn't know we could actually make real things in science class.\" Another student was mesmerized by the vibrant colors of the fabric, realizing their design were finally going to become physical objects they could hold. The sense of professional-grade equipment gave them a newfound \"maker\" identity and a serious boost in confidence.\r\n\r\nOur Next Steps\r\nOur journey is just beginning! The next step for my students is the \"Science & Art Showcase.\" * The Designers: They will finish their sewn projects, incorporating 3D-printed elements and coded components.\r\n\r\nBy bridging the gap between a needle and a line of code, you have helped my students understand that technology is a tool for expression, and engineering is a way to bring their wildest dreams to life.","fullyFundedDate":1701090652272,"projectUrl":"project/engineering-and-designing-a-guide-to-s/7888766/","projectTitle":"Engineering and Designing: A Guide To STEM Stitching and Beyond","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Anderson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-6_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7662450"},{"teacherId":9735070,"projectId":9717091,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for supporting our classroom and helping make this project a reality. Because of your generosity, my students now have access to LEGOs, traditional Japanese toys, origami materials, and bilingual Japanese–English books that have transformed our learning environment.\r\nThe LEGOs have been especially effective in encouraging problem-solving and collaboration, as students bring their ideas together. The Japanese toys and origami activities have allowed students to explore culture through hands-on learning, helping them practice fine motor skills. This also helped them to learn about cultural aspects instead of only language, gaining an appreciation for another country's traditions. One special moment was watching students patiently follow origami steps together and be happy for one another when they succeeded in finishing the final product. \r\nWhen the students first saw the materials, they were so excited and couldn't wait to start. The bilingual books allowed many students to recognize words, though simple, in both Japanese and English, and I could tell that many others were proud that they could understand and recognize certain phrases and sentences.","fullyFundedDate":1761512022358,"projectUrl":"project/language-learning-can-be-interactive-im/9717091/","projectTitle":"Language Learning can be Interactive, Immersive, and Fun!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Chang","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-6_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9735070"},{"teacherId":7935635,"projectId":9777249,"letterContent":"My students returned from a weekend with boxes awaiting them. The craft supplies, including stamps, pens, highlighters, a needle, and a steam iron and grommet tool for sewing, especially added to our reading and craft area. This helps my students feel at ease safe and creative. They often walk into class to independently read or just to help self reset after a difficult test or challenging class. Students can now find a comfortable spot to read or when they have downtime they write thank you messages to show their gratitude towards a friend, or a loved one. They have sewn eye pillows and gifted them in cute bags with a picture that I captured of their whole family When their parents attended their student led conferences. They also attached sweet messages of appreciation to their parents for showing up.\r\n\r\nWe were gifted blessings from your organization, so I hope my kids can one day, pay it forward, not only to their family and friends, but also to other struggling classrooms.","fullyFundedDate":1759455030635,"projectUrl":"project/cozy-corner-for-reading-and-resetting/9777249/","projectTitle":"Cozy Corner for Reading and Resetting","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Lam","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-8_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7935635"},{"teacherId":10248878,"projectId":9780774,"letterContent":"I am writing to express my deepest thanks for your generous donation of an iPad to our classroom. I want to share how your donation has evolved to meet the specific needs of my students this semester.\r\n\r\nWhile my original proposal focused on a student newsroom, I realized that for my group of newcomer English Learners, we needed to focus first on foundational expression. We pivoted our project to focus on Visual Storytelling and Literacy, using the Smart TV you funded to help students express what they learned in their own words.\r\n\r\nThe impact of having this technology in our room has been transformative in two specific ways:\r\n\r\n1. Accelerating Literacy Learning For my newcomers, the Smart TV became the focal point of our literacy instruction. Instead of struggling with small text in a book, we used the large screen to project text, analyze sentence structures, and build vocabulary together as a group. It allowed students to see the connection between spoken and written English clearly. The visuals we displayed helped bridge the gap between their native languages and English, making reading and writing much more accessible and engaging.\r\n\r\n2. Real-Life Learning and Digital Skills Even though we moved away from the journalism angle, the project still provided critical real-world context. Students used Canva to design digital posters about Science and Social Emotional Learning (SEL). When they projected their digital posters onto the TV to present to the class, they were practicing real-life skills: digital design, public speaking, and using professional technology.\r\n\r\nWhether creating posters on paper or digitally, your donation gave my students a platform to visualize their thoughts and share their hearts. The excitement was immediate—the moment my students saw the boxes of slime-making supplies, their faces lit up with curiosity and joy. Many of them had never made slime before, and the opportunity to mix, stretch, and experiment with textures became more than just a fun science activity. It turned into a hands-on way to learn about mindfulness and stress relief.\r\nWe used the kits as part of our wellness lessons, exploring how sensory activities can help calm the mind and reduce anxiety. Students worked together in small groups to create their own slime \"stress relievers,\" choosing colors and scents that made them feel peaceful and happy. One of my favorite moments was seeing a student who often struggles with anxiety smile proudly and say, \"This actually helps me focus better.\"\r\nLooking ahead, my students are now planning to share what they have learned by creating a \"Calm Corner\" in our classroom, filled with the slime they made and other sensory tools.
