With your help, our Sewing Club is off to a great start! We have more students than ever before and would not have been able to manage it all without your help.\r\n\r\nI was able to quickly cut felt pieces for our Valentine's Heart project. The kids started with 2 felt hearts and learned the basic in and out stitch. The needles were big enough for inexperienced hands to easily manipulate but sharp enough to pierce 2 layers of felt. One student's mom told me her heart now has a special place of honor in her home.\r\n\r\nOur next project is fleece hats and scarves! Cutting the fringe on the scarves used to take students 2-3 sessions with sharpened safety scissors. The new kid-friendly sewing scissors had them finishing in less than one session! They're going to have the chance to do even more projects, since they're not wasting time with dull tools. I was even able to teach some of the older students how to use a sewing machine!\r\n\r\nThe students are so excited. We are grateful for the new materials and tools and can't wait to see what amazing projects await us.","fullyFundedDate":1764687650790,"projectUrl":"project/help-our-sewing-club-come-together/9711495/","projectTitle":"Help Our Sewing Club Come Together!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Nolan","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp2482563_orig.jpg?crop=768,768,x0,y2&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1758308722343","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/2482563"},{"teacherId":8024972,"projectId":9151894,"letterContent":"Wow! We are absolutely thrilled and so incredibly grateful for your generosity! When I told my students that our project was fully funded, they were so excited. It means the world to us that you have chosen to support our classroom and our hands-on exploration of ancient civilizations.\r\n\r\nYour donation will make a huge difference. Building 3D models of historical landmarks is one of the students' favorite projects, but struggling to cut cardboard has always been a point of frustration that could derail a student's entire vision. Because of your generosity, my students will now be able to easily bring their amazing ideas to life. You haven't just given us tools; you've given my students the confidence to see that their creativity has no limits.\r\n\r\nThank you for investing in my students and their learning. My students have benefited greatly from receiving this donation. One of my goals in creating a Calm Corner was to provide a space for my students to find a space to center themselves. The Calm Corner in my classroom has quickly become a favorite space among my students. It has become a gathering space for collaboration and a safe space for those who need it.\r\n\r\nAnother goal of the Calm Corner project was to provide a space for students to engage in independent reading. Although I teach Social Studies, as a former literacy teacher, I believe in the importance of creating intentional moments to read. In my observations, middle school students tend to either love reading or avoid it. I wanted to find ways for my students to find opportunities for reading and provide books at their level that would engage them.","fullyFundedDate":1691343247634,"projectUrl":"project/calm-corner-seating/7563644/","projectTitle":"Calm Corner Seating","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Gonzalez","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8024972_orig.jpg?crop=100,100,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1741623546070","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8024972"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_5540","usesÐǿմ«Ã½":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":726,"numTeachers":31,"percentFrplEligible":40,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":4,"percentWhite":37,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":47,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"23.4:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":73.2,"schoolId":5540,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Brentano Math & Science Academy on @Ðǿմ«Ã½:","schoolName":"Brentano Math & Science Academy","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/illinois/chicago-public-school-district-299/brentano-math-science-acad/5540"}
