Your contribution has ensured that some of our youngest learners no longer have to worry about an empty stomach while trying to focus on their lessons.\r\nThe impact of these snacks has been immediate and visible in our daily routines. When children are hungry, it becomes incredibly difficult for them to concentrate, manage their emotions, or participate fully in classroom activities. With this \"nutritious fuel\" readily available, I have seen a significant increase in student engagement and a decrease in the fatigue that often sets in during our busy morning and afternoon blocks. You haven't just provided food; you have provided the physical foundation necessary for my students to succeed academically.\r\nLiving and learning in East Boston, my students often face challenges that extend beyond the school walls. By supporting this project, you have shown them that there is a community of people who care deeply about their well-being and their education. Your generosity has created a more equitable and nurturing environment where every child, regardless of their circumstances, has what they need to thrive. During our light and darkness unit, my students have been using the light tables, which have truly opened the door to deeper exploration, along with a variety of hands-on materials to investigate in ways that feel both playful and powerful. One moment that truly stood out was watching students place different objects on the light table and notice how each one looked completely different when illuminated. They compared colors, textures, and shapes, holding materials up, layering them, and excitedly sharing what they discovered with one another. What began as simple exploration quickly turned into rich, child-led learning filled with curiosity, problem-solving, and joy.\r\n\r\nWhen my students first saw the materials, their reactions were pure wonder. Some children quietly observed, taking it all in, while others jumped right in, placing materials on the light table and experimenting with how they changed in the light. It created a classroom atmosphere filled with energy and discovery. For many of my students, these materials opened the door to new ways of learning, allowing them to touch, see, and truly experience concepts that might otherwise feel abstract.\r\n\r\nAs we move forward, we are building on this excitement by connecting our learning to the real world. Students are beginning to explore how light helps us in everyday life, whether it is during nighttime routines, staying safe in the dark, or even camping experiences. Our next step is a creative project where students will design their own illuminated creations using the light table and classroom materials. Through this, they are not only strengthening their understanding of light, but also developing language, imagination, and confidence. This journey has been so much more than a science unit, it has been a space where curiosity is celebrated and where every child feels like a discoverer.","fullyFundedDate":1771026528528,"projectUrl":"project/light-up-learning/10065169/","projectTitle":"Light Up Learning!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Dumbuya","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6646529_orig.png?crop=954,954,x86,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1769625109068","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6646529"},{"teacherId":1035024,"projectId":10006519,"letterContent":"I am so grateful for your generosity!!
