They were full of \"I wonder what this is for?\" and \"Can we try it now?\" Their faces lit up, especially when they saw the 10-frames and new art supplies. They couldn't wait to jump in and start exploring.\r\n\r\nOne special moment was during center time. Students used the 10-frames with counters to build numbers and share their thinking with friends. In the art area, they used pastels with watercolors, and cardstock to create colorful projects, proudly sharing their work to each other. The Expo markers have also made our lessons more interactive—students love being able to draw, write, and quickly share their ideas. The expo markers are also used with our reusable wipe and write pockets. It has been amazing to see how engaged and confident they feel.\r\n\r\nNext, we will keep using these materials to grow our learning even more. Students will explore adding with the 10-frames and continue using art to express their ideas in our studies. We are also practicing taking care of our classroom materials and staying organized. These resources are helping my students learn, create, and feel proud of what they can do every day.\r\n\r\nThank you for supporting our classroom and making these joyful learning moments possible! Because of you, my first graders now have access to fidgets and hands-on manipulatives that have truly made a difference in our daily learning. From the moment the materials arrived, their faces lit up with excitement, there were smiles, curiosity, and so much eagerness to explore. What has been most special to see is how these tools are helping students stay focused, calm their bodies, and fully engage in lessons. Whether they are listening during a read-aloud or working through a math activity, having something in their hands has helped them feel more in control and ready to learn.\r\n\r\nThese materials have also become a meaningful part of our classroom community. Students earn the opportunity to use them through hard work, kindness, and positive choices, which has created a more encouraging and supportive environment. I've seen students take pride in their efforts and celebrate small successes in ways that truly build their confidence. One moment that stood out was a student who typically struggled to stay focused during group time, using a simple fidget, they were able to sit, listen, and participate from beginning to end. It was a small moment, but such a powerful one.\r\n\r\nAs we move forward, we will continue using these tools to support learning and positive behavior, especially as we work on collaborative projects and hands-on activities in class. My goal is to keep building a space where students feel safe, motivated, and excited to learn each day. They often begin to see themselves as artists with a growth mindset, instead of a fixed mindset. I believe this confidence permeates into the academic classroom, as their self-efficacy and creativity increases. I believe that art helps build social and emotional learning, which is so critical, especially for kids at Title One schools.\r\n\r\nThank you again for the wonderful donations, enabling me to bring clay and joy into the art classroom. Using the classroom color printer, children are printing their own drawings, early writing, and story illustrations - transforming their thinking into vibrant, meaningful creations they can see, hold, and share. One of the most exciting outcomes has been the creation of student-generated class books, where each child contributes a page. These books have quickly become treasured pieces in our classroom library, building pride, ownership, and a genuine love for reading and storytelling.\r\n\r\nTo make their learning visible and celebrated, we use mounting mats and acrylic frames to thoughtfully display their work throughout the classroom. When students see their creations showcased, their faces light up with pride. These displays spark conversations, encourage reflection, and invite peers and families to engage with their ideas. Because of your generosity, my students now have access to hands-on, interactive learning tools that bring reading instruction to life. We have already started using the games during our literacy centers, and it has been incredible to see students actively engaged while practicing letter sounds, blending, and word building. One of my favorite moments was watching a small group of students work together to build CVC words using a game. They were sounding out each letter, helping one another, and celebrating when they read the word correctly. It turned practice into something exciting and collaborative.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the new games, their faces lit up with excitement. They immediately wanted to explore everything and couldn't wait to start playing and learning. The games created a positive, low-pressure environment where students felt confident taking risks and trying new skills.\r\n\r\nAs we continue to the end of the school year, we will be using these phonics games to strengthen foundational reading skills and build fluency.
