Because of your donations, we have been able to use a variety of new resources every single day. We are using the snacks and ice as reinforcement for positive behavior, and the ice has also been especially helpful as a quick redirection tool when behaviors begin to escalate. Our sensory toys have become a favorite during choice time and are incredibly helpful in supporting students when they are experiencing big emotions. The cleaning supplies help us maintain a safe and clean environment, and the locking file cabinet allows us to securely store confidential student information.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the materials, they were very excited, especially about the snacks and ice. They were eager to engage and quickly connected these supports with positive behavior expectations. One meaningful moment stood out when a student who can become aggressive started to escalate, and we were able to quickly help him calm down using the ice. It was a powerful example of how these resources are already making a difference in supporting behavior and emotional regulation in our classroom.\r\n\r\nMoving forward, we will continue using the snacks as reinforcement until they are gone, and we expect the other materials, especially the sensory tools and storage solutions, to benefit our classroom for years to come. Your support has made an incredible impact, and I am excited to share how these resources have already begun to enrich our learning environment and benefit the students.\r\n\r\nThe kidney table allows for collaborative conversations, which is perfect for building communication skills. Last week students were able to engage in a conversational exchange around the table. As for the social-emotional learning books, they have had a transformative effect. The books offer relatable stories and scenarios that help students understand and name their emotions, fostering a deeper sense of empathy for one another. One of my students was able to identify a situation where she could exercise flexible thinking. \r\n\r\nWhen the new materials first arrived, the students immediately noticed the books on the shelf and the new table set up for collaborative work. My students are using the whiteboards during small group instruction to practice letter formation, sight words, and simple sentences, which allows them to take risks and try again with confidence. The play-dough has been especially powerful during our literacy block—students are forming letters, building their names, and stretching out sounds to create CVC words. \r\n\r\n \tWhen the students first saw the new materials, their eyes lit up with excitement and curiosity. They were eager to get started and could not stop smiling as they explored each item. The whiteboards made them feel like \"real writers,\" and the play-dough immediately sparked creativity and conversation. Their enthusiasm carried throughout the entire day, and they continue to be motivated and excited to use these tools for learning.\r\n \tAs we move forward, students will continue using these materials to strengthen both their reading and writing skills in hands-on, developmentally appropriate ways. We are beginning to work more on sentence building, storytelling, and word families, and the whiteboards and literacy games will allow students to practice these skills in an interactive and low-pressure way. The play-dough will continue to support fine motor development and letter–sound connections as students build and explore new words.
