The sensory tools and rewards are integrated into our classroom routines—students use them during independent work, small groups, and transition times to help stay focused and calm. One of my favorite moments was watching a student who often struggles with attention independently choose a sensory tool and successfully complete their work with confidence.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the materials, their excitement was immediate. Their eyes lit up, and they couldn't wait to learn how each item could help them learn in different ways. Many students shared that the tools helped them feel calmer, happier, and more ready to learn, which has strengthened our classroom community and sense of safety.\r\n\r\nMoving forward, these resources will continue to support our current lessons by helping students manage emotions, build stamina for learning, and stay engaged during reading and writing activities. Because of you, my classroom is a more inclusive, supportive space where every student has what they need to succeed. Thank you for giving my students the tools to learn and grow. 💙","fullyFundedDate":1768796274919,"projectUrl":"project/sensory-rewards-for-focused-happy-2nd-g/10041569/","projectTitle":"Sensory Rewards for Focused, Happy 2nd Grade Learners","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Shin","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-3_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9467085"},{"teacherId":6410302,"projectId":9910368,"letterContent":"When the materials arrived, my students were thrilled. Seeing the jingle bell necklaces immediately brought excitement and curiosity, and many students recognized the connection to The Polar Express. During our family literacy event, students wore their bells and rang them during key moments of the story, which helped bring the text to life and increased engagement for all learners, especially our English Language Learners.\r\n\r\nThe candy canes were shared as a celebration of positive behavior and participation. Students were proud to receive them and understood they represented teamwork, kindness, and being respectful members of our school community.\r\n\r\nOne of the most impactful moments was watching students from different grade levels enjoy the experience together with their families. The event created a strong sense of belonging and joy, and many families shared how meaningful it was to have a school-sponsored experience they could attend together.\r\n\r\nFollowing the event, students reflected on the experience through class discussions and writing activities focused on emotions, gratitude, and community. The excitement from the night carried over into the classroom, increasing student engagement and strengthening connections between school and home.\r\n\r\nThank you for helping make this memorable and meaningful experience possible for our students.","fullyFundedDate":1764185650428,"projectUrl":"project/believe-bells-for-our-polar-express-fam/9910368/","projectTitle":"Believe: Bells for Our Polar Express Family Night","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Taitano","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6410302_orig.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1632957677250","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6410302"},{"teacherId":8138209,"projectId":9367871,"letterContent":"The LEGO sets that were purchased for the after school LEGO Club at Elaine Wynn ES have surpassed the students expectations. Many students in LEGO Club have had little to no experience building with LEGO sets, so when they saw how gigantic the boxes were the excitement began to overflow and the energy was contagious. \r\nOne of the sets requested and purchased was the new Disney LEGO Simba. This set is over 1,000 pieces and proving quite a challenge for some of our builders, but many of the participants in LEGO Club are also involved in our after-school Disney Musical program, which happens to be rehearsing a production of The Lion King. The connections we have been able to make between these after school opportunities are so fulfilling for our at-risk population.\r\nWhen we complete the Simba LEGO set, all of the students in LEGO Club will get to vote on which set we build next. You helped me so much to get materials that I wanted for my kindergarten classroom. My students were able to use the materials during small groups when doing math time. The number games we were able to get allowed for them to practice their math number skills and they were able to get better scores in their end of year testing. I was able to teach my students using the easel that helped out with them being able to see the anchor charts that we did together as well as the writing stories. \r\nI was also super excited to use the color printer that allowed for my entire kinder team to print our class visuals in color so that we can post them in our classrooms. So not only did all these materials help one classroom but many!!! I was able to use the laminating machine to laminate my posters that I had printed in color and post them in the class. They will be able to last for many years thanks to the printer and laminating machine. We now use the blankets as cozy spots for outdoor reading time, science observations, and peaceful moments to reflect during health and wellness lessons. Recently, during our lesson on pollinators, my students sat in small groups on their blankets, sketching bees and butterflies as they fluttered through our garden. One student looked up at me and said, \"I wish we could learn out here every day!\" — and now, we can!\r\n\r\nThe excitement on their faces when they saw the new blankets for the first time was unforgettable. They immediately started pairing up and choosing their spots, asking if we could have all our lessons outside from now on. For many of my students, especially those who live in apartments without green space, this has become a peaceful retreat where they feel safe and inspired to learn.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, we're using the blankets as part of our Garden Journaling Project, where students will document plant growth, write reflections, and even create poetry inspired by nature. These blankets may seem like a simple addition, but to my students, they represent a new kind of classroom — one filled with sunshine, curiosity, and calm.
