The arrival of our new flexible seating, mailbox, chapter books, and \"Fun Friday\" game has completely transformed our classroom environment. When the boxes arrived, the students cheered as if it were a holiday; one student was especially overjoyed to finally find the next book in a series they had been waiting to read. The flexible seating has already boosted engagement, allowing students to choose workspaces where they feel most focused, while our new mailbox system has helped them take true ownership of their daily organization and responsibilities.\r\nWe are now diving into our new Literacy Circles, using the chapter books to explore character development while tucked into our new comfortable reading nooks. These resources have also added a wonderful boost to our classroom culture—the \"Fun Friday\" game serves as a fantastic reward for reaching our weekly academic goals. Your kindness has provided my students with a space that feels both professional and inspiring, and we are so grateful for your support in making our classroom a better place to learn and grow.","fullyFundedDate":1768269477412,"projectUrl":"project/from-empty-room-to-thriving-3rd-grade-c/10009923/","projectTitle":"From Empty Room to Thriving 3rd- Grade Classroom","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Smith","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-10_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10399799"},{"teacherId":2464125,"projectId":9996840,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous support of our classroom! Because of you, my students now have access to flexible seating options that have truly transformed our learning environment. The stadium seats and large cushion seats with movable desks have given students the opportunity to choose spaces that help them feel comfortable, focused, and ready to learn. Whether they are gathered on the carpet for a lesson, working in small groups, or finding a quiet spot to think independently, these seating options allow them to take ownership of their learning in a meaningful way. One moment that really stood out was during a recent math block when students spread out across the room, each choosing a seating option that worked best for them. I saw students more focused, engaged, and confident as they worked through problems and collaborated with their peers.\r\n\r\nWhen my students first saw the new seating, their excitement was immediate and contagious. Their faces lit up as they explored the different options, and they were eager to try them all. There was a sense of pride and responsibility as we talked about making good choices to support their learning. It made our classroom feel more welcoming and student-centered right away. As an added bonus, the whiteboard clipboards have been incredibly helpful, giving students a flexible surface to write on no matter where they choose to sit. This has made transitions smoother and allowed learning to happen anywhere in the room.\r\n\r\nAs we continue through the year, we are focusing on helping students make thoughtful, independent choices about where and how they learn best. Flexible seating has already helped build stronger focus, collaboration, and independence in our classroom. Students are learning to reflect on what helps them succeed and adjust as needed, which is such an important life skill. Thank you again for making this possible and for helping create a classroom where every student feels comfortable, supported, and excited to learn each day.","fullyFundedDate":1768181016193,"projectUrl":"project/flexible-spaces-joyful-learning/9996840/","projectTitle":"Flexible Spaces, Joyful Learning","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Green","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp2464125_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1698897814853","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/2464125"},{"teacherId":1127904,"projectId":9997088,"letterContent":"Because of your generosity, our classroom has truly been transformed! The flexible seating and rolling portable desk have quickly become some of the most loved and frequently used tools in our daily learning.\r\n\r\nWe use these new resources in so many ways throughout the day. During our reading and writing block, students choose a seating option that helps them focus best—some curl up with a book in a cozy seat, while others use the rolling desk to move to a quiet corner to work on their writing. One of my favorite moments was during a recent small group activity when a student who typically struggles to stay focused chose a flexible seat and was able to stay engaged and complete their entire assignment independently. It was such a proud moment!\r\n\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, the excitement was unforgettable. Students' eyes lit up, and there were lots of \"oohs\" and \"ahs\" as they explored the different seating options. They immediately took ownership of their learning space and were eager to try everything out. It truly felt like a special gift just for them.\r\n\r\nAs we move forward, we are continuing to build independence and responsibility while using these tools. Students are learning how to choose the best seating option for their learning needs, especially as we work on collaborative projects and independent tasks. Right now, we are diving into a new writing unit, and the flexible seating is helping students find the perfect environment to brainstorm, draft, and revise their work with confidence.\r\n\r\nThank you again for making such a meaningful difference in our classroom. Your kindness has already made a monumental impact on our classroom, and I wanted to take a moment to share just how much your support means to us.\r\n\r\nA first-grade classroom is a whirlwind of energy, curiosity, and rapid growth. Our days are filled with the magic of learning—from discovering new phonics sounds and solving math problems to creating beautiful art and building incredible towers. With so much happening at once, a little bit of structure goes a very long way, and that's exactly what your donation has provided.\r\n\r\nThe beautiful 3-tier carts are more than just rolling shelves; they are now the heart of our table organization. This instant access and mobility have revolutionized how we transition between subjects. No more fumbling for materials—everything is right where we need it, which makes our time more efficient and our learning more fluid. For first-graders who thrive on routine and clear expectations, a smoother transition means more time for them to focus on the joy of learning.\r\n\r\nAnd the organization baskets? They are a complete game-changer! We've used them to create dedicated stations for our math tool boxes. The kids now know exactly where to find their materials and where to put them back. This may seem like a small detail, but for a six-year-old, the ability to independently find and use their materials is a huge step toward building responsibility and confidence. When they can manage their own space, they feel more in control of their learning journey. It empowers them to be active participants in keeping our classroom a clean, calm, and productive environment. This newfound sense of ownership is something we work on all year, and your donation has been an invaluable tool in that process.\r\n\r\nBeyond the practical benefits, your donation sends a powerful message to my students. It tells them that they are seen, that their education is important, and that there are people in the community who believe in them and are willing to invest in their future. This feeling of being supported and valued is perhaps the most important lesson of all. It fosters a sense of community and care that extends beyond the walls of our classroom.\r\n\r\nYour thoughtfulness has brought order to our world and joy to our hearts. We are incredibly grateful for your generosity and for helping to create a space where my students can be organized, feel successful, and truly love learning.","fullyFundedDate":1746686360472,"projectUrl":"project/functional-first-grade/9271061/","projectTitle":"Functional First Grade","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. M.","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp187456_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1706139612453","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mrs-manterola"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_120986","usesÐǿմ«Ã½":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":853,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":13,"percentBlack":6,"percentWhite":33,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":28,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":71.7,"schoolId":120986,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Jan Jones Blackhurst Elementary School on @Ðǿմ«Ã½:","schoolName":"Jan Jones Blackhurst Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/nevada/clark-county-school-district/jones-blackhurst-elementary-opens-fall-2017-/120986"}
