When my students first saw the vibrant Kidfetti pellets and the various \"Explore Boards,\" their faces lit up with curiosity. One of the most impactful moments occurred during our morning center time: a student who typically struggles to engage with peers spent twenty minutes at the sensory bin, using the new sand and pellets to practice \"give and take\" play with a classmate. The vibrating jellyfish and chewy necklaces have also become essential \"safety nets,\" providing the immediate sensory input my students need to regulate their bodies so they can focus on their lessons rather than feeling overwhelmed.\r\n\r\nWe are specifically finding that the communication cards and AAC tools are life-changing during transitions and our time spent outside the classroom. Transitions can be the most challenging part of the day for a child with autism, but having portable visuals allows my students to see exactly what is coming next, which lowers their anxiety. When we leave the familiar four walls of our room to head to the playground or the cafeteria, these cards and talkers go with us. They provide a portable \"voice\" that allows my students to communicate their needs and feelings in loud or busy environments. This year I have students diagnosed with autism, health impairment, explosive disorders, ADD, and ADHD. Having various sensory items to help with the needs of my students is essential. While I'm in a general Ed classroom setting the challenges my students face are anything but normal. The teething necklaces have all been used. The fidgets are a huge hit and the putty was a great help too! The communication cards I've used on a daily basis and help with my non verbal student. My students who struggle holding a pencil and with basic handwriting have been using the notebooks and hand2mind writing pad. It's been great practice for them. With your donation, I was able to teach my students how other cultures celebrate their respective holidays and other days of importance. Being culturally literate is important, so passing that on to my students will have two effects: respecting other cultures and realizing that there are many distinct differences between themselves and others. My students will appreciate and be curious about how other cultures and countries celebrate similar holidays as us in the United States. My Kindergartners learned so much from how children in the Netherlands get toys in their shoes, from spinning the dreidel for Hanukkah, learning about St. Lucia and how she provides food for those in need in Sweeden, stockings that are hung on children's bed in England and crackers to the list goes on and on. We had a blast! Then the day of the event I had Kinder and first grade students from other classroom as part of my STEAM station. Thanks to you they were able to \"Huff and Puff\" as well as make their bouncing bubbles. We were able to reinforce our graphing by labeling how many breathes it took to get various items from the start to the finish line. I'm teaching at a magnet school this year and these quarterly STEAM events are so much fun for the students and teachers alike. Having multiple red carpets, we could place in the multiple kindergarten classrooms was so helpful so all classrooms could participate at the same time. They were so excited to walk the red carpet. Our school principal came to see our students strut their stuff! It was awesome! It's such an enjoyable time to have fun and enjoy learning our ABC's as a classroom community. \r\n\r\nThe large Chicka Chicka Boom Boom book was large enough that everyone sitting on the carpet could see it. The sandpaper we used as a craft to make our trees. The 2 other chicka chicka boom boom books will be great when we celebrate Halloween and Christmas. I was also able to use the math ten frame pop its during centers time. They are always a favorite of my students. The chicka chicka boom boom palm tree snack was a hit to celebrate our ABC Fashion Show.
