Several have learning disabilities, and many have experienced separation from one or more parents due to death, divorce, incarceration, or are currently living in foster care. These are heavy realities for young people to carry, and they often show up in the classroom in ways that affect both learning and emotional well-being.\r\n\r\nBecause of your support, we've been able to bring in books focused on social-emotional learning and provide journals for students to express themselves. I've already seen how impactful these resources have been. Students are opening up, reflecting on their feelings, and—most importantly—learning how to show compassion and empathy toward one another.\r\n\r\nI've also noticed a real shift in their engagement. Students are participating more, staying involved in lessons, and showing greater interest in their learning. Their test scores are improving, and they're beginning to see what they're capable of achieving. We've had meaningful conversations about earning credits, graduation requirements, and even what it means to graduate cum laude—topics that are helping them think about their futures in a more concrete way.\r\n\r\nOne of the most amazing assignments we've done recently was having students research what they want to be when they grow up and choose the college that would best support their goals. This resource has become an essential tool in helping students develop critical skills such as emotional regulation, self-awareness, and positive peer interactions. The interactive nature of the iPad allows students to engage with SEL apps, guided activities, and reflection exercises in a way that is both accessible and impactful.\r\n\r\nCurrently, nearly 60 students in grades K–5 are directly benefiting from this resource. Many of these students require additional support in managing emotions, building relationships, and navigating challenges both inside and outside the classroom.
